Now that it will be legal to carry 5.5"+ blades, and Bowies, what would you recommend?

This would be partly for fun and mostly "just because we can". My largest right now is a Ratmandu. I had a few longer blades such as a Cold Steel SRK that I sold because I couldn't carry it. But now I can buy something else. The SOG Tech Bowie is a style that I like but other people reading this might like other styles.

The RMD comes with Bussekin pedigree. Going with a SOG or Cold Steel over a Swamp Rat is heading in the wrong direction (no matter the size difference) ;)

Everything's bigger in TX right?
Hell yes. This is my secondary fixed blade for the sheeple.:)

I dunno. I'm stoked they passed this law, but these two will probably still be the ones I carry most:

I'm more excited about the double edge prospects.

As for large fixed blades I'd probably go for one of these from Kanetsune. I just love the look.

I mean.... There's the BK9. Handle is not traditional Bowie, but if we're talking about carrying a nice big Bowie knife anyway, why not make it the "king."

If you like the Tech, go for it! Get the knife that YOU want, who cares what I think? But, if it helps, I carry a SOG S-1, so obviously I like the style...

I would recommend you get me a green card and I move to Texas :D

I know it's a mass produced bowie, but yeah, CS Laredo.

Get something to complement the BBQ gun.

I have 2 friends that own large Bagwell bowies. They took them to the Alamo and posed for a photo in front with their bowies out. A nearby security guard got real excited for a minute until he figured out that they weren't intending to harm anyone. These aren't real fancy knives but would go with the kind of gun I would carry to a BBQ.
