Couple of big ones with links to half decent pics for once. My brother broke out the big honkin' Nikon SLR for these.:D
Both are forged W2. The big one has a 13 1/4 inch balde with hamon, forged wrought iron fittings, Sambar stag handle and a Paul Long sheath with Nile crocodile skin inlay. The "small" one has an 11 inch blade with Spanish notch, cold blued 1018 fittings, Sambar stag handle and a Paul Long sheath with ostrich leg skin inlay.

How are you getting those clean, good looking plunge lines? Are you using a power hammer?

No. I normally use a press. The big blade is the only one that I have ever forged on a power hammer. I was up at Cliff Parker's place watching him forge up some damascus and gave his 55kg Say Mak a whirl. When I grind them, I use one of Uncle Al's VERY expensive (but well worth it) file guides. It has carbide plates on it, so even a 40 grit Blaze belt only polishes it up a bit.:D I can run the belt over the edge of the platen and grind right up onto the file guide. Supposedly, another option is to spend the extra money on some Swiss files. They make ones that have teeth only on one of the four side so you can file straight down using a file guide. Otto Frei jewelry supply has a BIG selection of them, IIRC. A few of them are on my shopping list for Christmas.

I bet that made you want to buy one of those sweet machines!

If I had the money-
If I had the space-
If my wife would let me- I'd own one. :)

No kidding. In my case, it's the money and what my neighbors at the shop would think when the ground started shaking.:D
