 Hi Folks,
I remember seeing a handle vice made from an old bowling ball & a drill press vice. Does anyone know if there is a tutorial available for such a thing-a-ma-jig? Is there somebody around the forums who may make these vices for sale?

Thanks,

Bob,

Here's mine:
You don't need a tutorial - just cut a flat spot on it and bolt a vise to it!

Great idea. I am a new spur maker and need to work with things on the cheap. My wife is in nursing school. IO am sure you know what jewelers ball costs.

I built a wooden "box" around the ball like a frame with a 1 X 6, or maybe a 1 X 8 that I had cut down some, and just screwed it to the ball. Get it?
Then used a long blade in a sawzall - reciprocating saw - and used the top of the frame as a guide so the cut would be flat.
I had no idea how dense bowling balls were!

Really nice pictures and information on the sites you guys referred me to. My buddies got an old bowling ball I'll be using for this project.

Thanks Again,

Bob
