I try to avoid posting pictures of every knife that I make. However, a forum member wanted to send me some scales to put on a bushcrafter, and I said sure.

He told me they were Box Elder Burl. I have never used it before, and wasn't sure what it was going to look like.

I wanted to get your thoughts???

Box Elder is pretty cool looking stuff. A bit busy and brightly stained for my tastes, but it's incredible how Mother Nature can get creative.

Beautiful knife. Just don't drop it anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. The color and patterning make a perfect mossy camo.

It is a beautiful handle Brian but I find the pattern a bit distracting. I prefer the deeper colour wooded handles like the cocobola and bocote on this blade. But it looks like another perfectly executed knife!

I like them - looks like a great camo design. Of course, have a reflective paracord lanyard or you will lose it >.>

Frikkin' incredible:thumbup: That knife is very well done all the way around, but that wood really sets it apart. Brian, I don't buy many bushcraft style knives, but once I get some money coming back in, I'll be picking one of yours up:D

That is simply stunning - I am usually a micarta/G10 kind of guy, but that looks wonderful, I would like it on a knife!

+1, just not a fan of burl and when it's so perfect my mind tells me synthetic at first glance, now the cocobolo or possibly ironwood you pictured in a previous thread, for me, was awesome.

I wonder what Les Robertson has to say about values on scales like these.

Brian, let me start by saying that each new knife I see of yours looks better then the last, and this one looks flawless.

The handle is a thing of beauty, but as others have said, it’s not really my taste.

I did have a couple of Bark River’s with similar material, and even though they looked great I traded them for knives with more traditional looking handles.

Different stroke for different folks, I guess.

Keep up the fine work my friend.

Its funny... I picked up 1 of your first Bushcraft knives of the exchange. Its been my most used knife since I got it. I just love how it cuts and how comfortable it is. Howevery its butt ugly in its green canvas Micarta scales. Functional as all hell, but ugly:D

Then you go and post something like this, as well as the other beautiful wood ones you've made. I think its too pretty to use! I am eventually gonna get one in some kind of pretty wood anyway!

Keep up the great work:thumbup:

By the way, whats your lead time anyhow?

WOW, a martian bushcrafter:D. I'll stick with green canvas myself, but I can see why someone would want this. It is truly unique and I'm sure will be quite the conversation starter.

Brian, is this one 1/8th or 5/32?

Your right, the green canvas does seem a bit fugly :D

However, I have been buying natural micarta from NWA, and I really dig it! It is my new favorite synthetic.

I like the fit and finish, but a birch handle is more my speed. Your knives are INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
