Anyone know where I can get some boxwood without having to buy a $100.00 worth.

I have a couple boxwood logs that have been dried for about 8 yrs. They are 3-4" diameter. How long a pc would you like? Remember that the center of the log is a no-no in your handle. I occassionally use them for folder scales. I had a few stabilized and they work well for a yellowish handle. It sands very smoothly, but I think I would put some sort of finish on it to keep it from picking up dirt. It does not shine like...oh...ironwood or blackwood does.

I need enough to make maybe 6 or 8 grips that would be 1" x 1 1/4" x 5". What would you price such a piece at?

Shakudo: I don't think stabilization is a bad thing on many woods. My opinion only. LRB...give me your address and I will send you enought for your grips. I'll send a little extra as many times there are hidden defects such as eyes or very small knots...normally tight, discovered after you cut the log up. No $ needed. John Lloyd
