I am looking for some genuine boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) that's dry. Don't need a lot but would not pass up a good price for a lot. Also can and does this need stabilising?

It is the hardes native European wood that exists. I never heared of it being stabilised.
It's offered on european Ebay sites

Interesting random trivia on Box (which you may already know, but I found it interesting when I first read it) is that according to the cutlers guild ordinances from the London Cutlers guild of the 16th century the only wood used in handles that was allowed to be dyed was Box, which they called "dudgeon."

"In order to avoid deceit of the people...be it ordained, that no handles of wood, except dudeon, shall be coloured; but let them be sold only in according as their right nature demands."

Interesting, if random, view on the past :)

Yes sorry to say you can't talk sales unless you have a paid membership. Thank you for wanting to help though.

JT, since Boxwood is more dense than water, and very fine grain, I'd expect no real need to stabilize

I noticed that Griffin Exotic Woods llc has a few nice pieces of boxwood, if you're still interested.

Call Gilmer (503-274-1271) in Portland. They usually have dry boxwood in stock.

We stabilized boxwood but the color changed.

Chuck
