Some of the Boy Scout Schrade/Imperial family knives....Schrade certainly were versatile through the years making knives that appealed to most folk...Hoo Roo

Imperial and Camillus and Ulster USA made some nice official boy scout knives; I don't think Schrade (in the narrow sense of the word) ever did. That red and white fixed blade 147 (and its sheath!) speak to me; I would like to score one of those one day. I have been getting ready to clear out my dear old official bone scout knives from Ulster, Ulster Dwight Divine, Ulster USA, Remington, Imperial and Cattaraugus but I am keeping my Camillus for the car ash tray, and two Craftsman/Schrade/Camillus "scout" knives for my pickup and my bicycle. My very first pocket knife ever was a blue Camillus cub scout utility with a "wolf" badge as a shield. I have three old Schrade Cutco "scout" knives which are way cool, but, as I said, they never made an official knife for the Boy Scouts of America. The books on scout knives by Joseph Richard Kerr, and by Ed Holbrook are fascinating reading.

Schrade made official BSA knives, including the inaccurate repro of BSA 1 in 1985, and some official BSA knives were even branded Schrade, just not "Scout" pattern knives.

Schrade branded BSA knives included:

BSA 1047 "Whittler" (Schrade No. 863) in the 1970's
BSA 1043 (serpentine clip and pen) (Schrade No. 708) 1962-1972 and 1992 [BSA 1900 (serpentine clip and pen with faux stag bone) was introduced in 1992 but branded Camillus]
BSA 1060 "dress knife" (stainless scales/pen and file blades) (Schrade No. 778) 1970's and 1985
above with pewter handle
above with faux pearl handle
BSA 1066 (black faux stag bone clip and pen) 1970's

Thanx for that correction; I had forgotten about those knives. I had even owned one of the 708s at one point. The "scout" pattern of 1985 I think had an Ulster tang stamp, and they did another one to go with it which was a lockback (?) with inlaid handles. I don't know how that one was labeled. I have the 1985 (75th anniversary) cased set around here somewhere if somebody wants one.

The later Schrade/Ulster marked Scout knives were made for them by Camillus.

Hi Old Mate Larry, I thought I was the only one that had time to wast around here.
Send me your new phone number, so we can wast some more time. Ken.

I would post the Camillus S cards for the patterns but my desktop is packed up for now. Perhaps Phil Gibbs or Larry Vickery can post or recite them for us? I think I posted several in the Camillus forum before if someone can conjure those up to post here.

Re-birthed to stimulate further Forum discussion and hopefully more photos of your collections!...Hoo Roo

USING IMGUR TO POST PICTURES ON A FORUM

Create an account (free) at Imgur.com. Create an Imgur name, like a forum name here.

Click on "Browse" at Imgur (which automatically appears when you open IMGUR,) to find a picture you have saved (probably in the "picture" file) on your computer.

"Open" the picture you want to copy or "drag" that picture to the IMGUR screen (you will be prompted as to where to put it by IMGUR.). This saves the picture to Imgur.

Put cursor on your IMGUR name at upper right to drop down a menu of actions.

Click on "[your Imgur name] images" on the menu that drops. Images that you have saved to IMGUR will appear in a grip to the right.

Click on the image in the page of images that you wish to share here.

On the right side of the screen, a list of options appears. Click on blue "Copy" tab on "BBCode" from the list.

Go to forum page where you want picture to show up and "paste" link you just copied from Imgur on that page.

It gets easier and easier as you use it. I figured it out on my own, and I am computer-challenged.
