double check me please
I just took delivery of this surface grinder, 220 v 3 phase, possibly 1 HP

any reason I can't get a new 4 wire plug and plug it right into my VFD?
I use a female twistloc plug on my VFD so I can plug in various grinders.

The old dirty plug is the male coming from the surface grinder
the cleaner plug is from one my existing grinders

also for those still using a stone wheel for surfacing blades, what stone can you recommend?
no I don't want to do a belt conversion

thanks

You should be able to just swap those plugs. Same type, just different amp rating- and at 3 phase 1 hp, your grinder ain't even close to pulling 20 amps let alone 30.
As for what stone to recommend? All I can say is that I thought I'd run a stone for a while when I got mine, and after a year of trying to run that way, I went with belts- no looking back.
Perhaps someone like Nathan or Javan will chime in with a stone recommendation.

I have the same SG and run it exactly that way. It is nice to be able to turn the speed down for Titanium.

I went with the norton 32a based on the recommendation of a well known maker here and it worked great.
