Boyar Schultz x-axis handle spinning free

recently my X-axis started to have too much play when I cranked the x-axis back and forth,
now it's spinning free and it won't engage the rack and pinion to move the table.
the rack and pinion looks fine.

any ideas on what is causing this? I'm guessing some set screw is not grabbing the shaft but I'm not certain which one.

Crank the handle while looking under and see if the shaft is spinning inside the gear. Probably a sheared pin or loose set screw.
