I have always wanted one. I like the pointed version without the marlin spike, but all the newer production seems to have the spike.
 
I own both pointed and sheepsfoot style folders, as well as his fixed blade, which could function on a boat or in camp as a short food prep knife. Each of his blades are iconic and reliable. None would be considered a weapon by reasonable people.

That said, metallurgy has advanced to the point that there are some other fantastic options for knives which work in marine environs and can be carried daily with little care for rust, etc.

Will try to post up some photos sooner than later.

David makes them to order on his web site.
Using your advice I contacted them via email and will be calling them on Monday (per their instructions) and ordering over the phone without the spike. ($45 less)
