Boys, we have a lost blade, and it's an expensive one ** Louisville Kentucky **

Yeah, the only knife I've lost recently was a Moki Blakiston's Fish Owl. Thankfully it's a readily available knife and they're all identical, so replacing it was merely a matter of spending more money. I just hope that whoever found it appreciates it. I doubt it though. He/she probably thinks the handles are plastic and has never heard of linen micarta, and thus thinks that it's a cheap piece of junk to abuse.

For the record, I don't own a MT and I will never own one (for many reasons) but that's not the point here. We are trying to help a fellow BF dude ;)
You claim its not the point, yet you keep bringing it up.

Again, if you hadnt mentioned it, that would have been it.
The dude is unscrupulous and dishonest.

It also sucks to think that some dipshit that doesn't know better might end up with the knife. Imagine someone throwing a $2000 knife into a tree, using it as a screwdriver, sharpening it on a grinder, etc. That thought hurts as much as losing the knife.

I concur vehemently.

He is pond scum.

But right; that doesnt change the fact, that its horrible to find out a knife is missing.

Any knife.

To have someone thrashing ones knife, not even knowing it was expensive, would drive me up the wall too.

Lost a mint Spyderco CF Caly 3.5 ZDP recently. Sucks - sucks like an Electrolux.

Some A-hole out there is most likely thrashing that.

I'm pretty disappointed in the attitude some are showing here.

Mafione has done some questionable things, but so have guys at BM, KAI, Strider, SOG, Boker, and others I'm forgetting, Im sure. Plenty of great makers have done their customers wrong, too.

I'm sure there are good people working on knives at Microtech. The stitch is a Borka design, I believe, as well. Doxing the brand like offended Twitter feminists is kind of lame. The Matrix was a long time ago.

It's especially ugly in a thread asking for help finding a lost knife, not opinions.

Anyway, good luck. I really hope it turns up. My first step would be to call every department of the hotel about it and see if anything comes up. You call enough and somebody in charge will notice.

I thought the joke was funny, because it was in fact a joke.

I don't think anyone wishes ill on the OP or his buddy who lost the knife. It always sucks to lose anything, especially an investment such as that.

Borka blades is located in Texas so I'm predisposed to be supportive of them. I don't know how these licensed designs work, but I also won't ever fault someone from selling their IP in any form. That's the American dream right? Work hard and support yourself with your talents/skills.

What I find 'pretty disappointing,' is that you believe, that just because there other qustionable types in other companies, that this in any way, shape or form justifies an iota of the aforementioned questionable characters actions.

It does not.

But then you called Burger, the stolen valor scum bag for 'great,' so not likely we will see eye to eye on this. He is even worse pond scum. Having been deployed (which btw has nothing to do with the opening of knives), I find his stolen valor especially loathsome.
To this day, the low life is even showing of his ink.

As for this being 'especially ugly,' lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Its a missing knife, not the end of the world.

Most of us have been there.

That being said, I can only imagine the frustration of the person - who is not the OP btw - having lost the knife.

I do hope it gets relocated - no matter the knife of course.

I fear it wont though - its a heck of a long shot.

Good luck to the person who ever that person is.

We are rooting for a succesful search.

I don't think stealing designs or valor is justified, ever. I just don't see the benefit in blacklisting companies every time they are mentioned, no matter the context, forever and ever because the owner did domething shitty.

Also, I was referring to great custom makers that have let down their customers in spectacular fashion, not Strider.

But I digress. I'll assume my opinion is simply unpopular and leave it at that.

It is increasingly common at BF. Those types seem to coagulate here.

Hope that knife is found, but I put the odds at almost zero unless it pops up on eBay.

Since the knife looks very similar to a bud K special, chances of them doing anything else with it, much less trying to sell it online are nonexistent. Maybe if it had a price tag attached.

Likely scenario is housekeeping staff popped it in their pocket, or even in the trash depending on their level of ignorance. I assume the guy tried calling the hotel already.

Glad, that we agree on stolen valor not ever being justified.

As for the other part; there is doing 'something shitty' and then there is stolen valor

Well, it was Burger - the man you called 'great,' whom I was talking about in regards to stolen valor amongst other things (lying, deceiving, felony charges etc etc).

Spark, the owner of this forum has an excellent thread on the subject of Burger - you might check into that. Very illuminating.

I read many of the truths of Burger and Dwyer as they were unfolding, but I agree that it is good reading. I also agree that what Mick and Dwayne did with Strider is, by far, the most egregious sin I have seen in this little niche of the world. I just didn't want to make this thread another beating of that long dead horse.

Also, I would like to clarify that I did not call
Strider great. The sentence was stating that there are many great makers, as in custom makers, that have let their customers down. Gareth Turnbull is an example of what I meant. I wasn't specific enough in my wording, so I understand the miscommunication.

To restate, virtue signaling and crying about years old sins in every thread is just not productive. People are free to buy the knives they like from the guys that you don't. That's capitalism. No amount of preaching changes it. That's what our soldiers fight for. The freedom to choose.

Some transgeessions are simply beyond the pale - his being one of those.

But anyway - people should read that thread of Sparks.

As mentioned, very illuminating.

Yes, people are free to buy, what they want, I agree.

Speaking of which: Still hope that knife will be found - but not holding my breath.

They do!??

The blood seizes in my veins at the mere thought!!

(Do you mean 'congregate?')

Nope, probably meant "coagulate". So many opinions remain "fluid" until they "solidify" by co-mingling in a single thread.

I know several motel cleaning types. They won't check e-bay for current pricing on these "finds"... they'll toss 'em into the trash.

We are rare folk in the knife world, boys and girls. A knife on the ground to us is potential treasure, but to most it's garbage.

This thread has literally nothing to do anything but a lost knife and help finding that lost knife.
Keep to this topic and this topic alone..the other shit has been discussed ad nauseum.

I reached out to the OP and offered to contact the hotel but have not heard back. Guess it's not that important to find the knife

Did he never call it? I thought he did for some reason. Sucks, every one of us can relate to losing an expensive blade. If you can't then it's just a matter of time.

I apologize... It was less tahn two days and It's been a crazy holiday. It also isn't my blade, its a good friend in the communities. I have reached out to him for that information and pm'd you back.

Since you, out of the kindness of your own heart are going to reach out, the least I can do is provide you with accurate information to not waste your time...
