BPS Knives of Ukraine

The citizen isn't double-edged, you probably are aware.
But I don't have one.
I noticed that, but it isn't a deal-breaker for me. I rather prefer this.

I'm tempted to order one and just wale on it for a month, just treat it like a Mora to see how it holds up 😆

(Possibly my new standard: "But can you treat it (beat on it) like a Mora?")

Has anyone done a longish term review of the BPS Citizen knife? Ever since giving away my old Gerber Guardian, I have wanted to replace it with something similar, and at that price I think the Citizen might fit the bill.
I also gave away a Gerber. I have the Citizen, but it's my least favourite BPS knife, and I'm not particularly fond of it. It's the only one that arrived blunt. I reckon it'd be pretty easy to turn into a double-edged dagger. It's stiff in the sheath. It's cheap, and I thought it might make a holiday knife for some of the dodgier places I visit, with unrestrictive knife laws, but I'm not sure I'd even use it for that.

And the steel performance?

Nice idea, Dangerman! Would you bring something else for that instead of the Citizen?
I am tempted to try a stainless BPS.
I have the HK6 SSH (?). Five-inch saber-ground clip point. I haven't used it enough to criticize the steel.
How bad is it likely to be?

All my other BPS knives are carbon, I find them OK. The Citizen has been in the drawer of my desk since it arrived. I've not used it for anything challenging enough to comment on the performance of the steel, other than to say it arrived blunt. Part of the reason that I've done nothing with it, is that I'll probably give it away. Unfortunately, since the Post Office would undoubtedly class it as a dagger, I can't send it overseas. Hopefully, someone else can comment on the performance of BPS's stainless

When I was headed to Bulgaria last year, a country with few knife/weapon restrictions, the Citizen was new, and I did think about buying one to take with me, mainly because it was cheap enough to leave behind in Bulgaria. There wasn't enough time to allow shipping though, so I took something else (actually several something elses), and if I went to another, somewhat dodgy, country, without knife restrictions, I'd probably also take something else. There's not much I like about the Citizen, and I regret buying it

Nice Jer

For what these knives cost, if folks like the look of them, I reckon they should just order one, and put it to use

I prefer to target my purchases. I no longer like owning hundreds of knives and not using most of them (Busse, Swamprat, custom knives...) They take up unnecessary space, and if you move to another country, it brings a lot of problems. No, I much prefer to own only 6 or 7 that I like to use and know well.
For most of my tasks, I almost always go back to my old Mora Classic or a strong chef knife. My son is like me but even more pragmatic. I have given him many good knives, but he only uses the one he needs and prefers : an Opinel No. 8 with a rosewood handle and a polished stainless steel blade. That's all.
But I'm looking for a stainless steel knife because with the snow and the condensation near my body during the cold season, I'm tired of babysitting my carbon blades. I hope to find my answer here, but obviously, there doesn't seem to be much use of BPS stainless...

Thrifty Kaniffy just posted a pretty good review on his YouTube. Didn't know if it was ok to post the link. Good on BPS for getting in touch with him and sending the knife over.

Time to bump this thread to announce my Saturday night impulse buy to spend part of my xmas gift card balance. It should be here some time next week.

I'm not sure what I'll do with it but it looks like a handy little thing.

Cool little bugger. Use it as a pocket fixed blade instead of your folder to see how a small fixie can be quite fun.

I've thought I have enough BPS knives, but that one draws my eye.
I might need another of their sheathes, anyway.

The reviews complain that the leather sheaths have no belt loops, and the leather is thin. I'm thinking it's more of a pocket carry knife anyway, but I don't want it to cut its way out..

At under $25, I'm not complaining even if the sheath needs duct tape reinforcement.

The Finn Lite looks cool, let us know how it goes! I wish the blade was either a little taller or a little thicker stock ... But it looks cool. :)

I’ve been looking for a nice narrow/pointy fixed blade that won’t break the bank for a good while now, and this one fits the bill nicely. I may have to pick one up. Here’s my current favorite BPS, I believe it’s the BS1FT. It takes a very sharp, shaving edge.
