[bracket] Favorite?: Serpentine Jacks (includes peanuts) or Camper/Scout/SAK

Serpentine jack all the way. I really like the GEC Northfield #56. I have them in burnt stag and primitive bone.

After carrying for a few years an alox sak, finding out it was really all i needed, perhaps even a bit more, i can appreciate it, but i must say i really love the options i get in a more old fashion traditional knife, options like carbon steel, bone...you know..and for that reason alone, be it form over function if you will, or maybe beauty over (extra) options, i choose the serpentine jack. It cuts, it looks good, and feels like it has a soul.
I know this is a more of a general response to your poll, but being the reason i choose the jack, i thought i might mention it. The sak may be a better edc, but i sure like to carry a serpentine jack instead. After all, a knife is supposed to cut, and no more.

I can relate to this a lot. I find SAKs entirely with out soul too. There is something about the main blades that leave me cold and I out right dislike the plastic scales which I break in fairly short order.

In contrast, I find the US style campers full of soul for all the reasons you mention in terms of scales and carbon steel.

SAKs and campers are the same family but theyre different.

Good point, but I dare not venture down this road. I already have too many good old knives without trying to replace my Victorinox with carbon steel/good scale campers.

Wow, this one has turned into a blow out.

Hmm, it's that grey area between a knife and a tool. We all know of course a knife is a tool, one of the best but we wouldn't compare it with a spanner..... I admire my SAK and if I was honest should carry it more often as I would probably find more use for it than just my knife. But it feels like a tool. I've got round this at work by carrying a Swiss Spirit (which falls firmly in the 'tool' category) and a single slipjoint knife to be a 'knife'!

There, perfect sense! Serpentine Jack.

And to think I was going to vote SAK at the start!

Wow. It just gets worse and worse.

Definitely a jack! It is by far my favorite pattern. Here are a few of my favorite serpentine jacks.
