Bradford Guardian 4 or Chris Reeve Nyala Insingo? Or something else entirely?

Hey, I am looking for an EDC style fixed blade that I can use around the house and maybe take with me when I do any outdoor activities since I don't have one. I really like the CRK Insingo blade shape so I wanted something similar. I also like fixed blades that have their edge come down past the handle to make things like food prep easier. I mostly do folders so I have little knowledge on fixed blades but I did find two that I think I like. The CRK Nyala Insingo or a Bradford Guardian 4. I want something in the 4" range give or take and something that preferably has Micarta handles.

These are the style of knives I am looking for. I already have a Microtech SBK so I am not really looking for anything remotely tactical.

I am also considering to get a fix d blade EDC and so far the Bradford guardian is what appeals me more
A G3 m390 with 3D micarta handles...
The Nyala is handsome but the better steel and the 3D handles on the guardian have my preference

Yeah, I personally like the Nyala but wish it was a bit bigger. I also wish the Bradford Guardian had more of a lighter stonewash / satin finish.

What about a Busse AMS?
Blade is slightly under your asking size, but you gain one of, if not, The best warranty in the knife world.

If that is too far towards "tactical", if you are OK with Bark River, they would have quite a bit in your size range.

That's alright too. I honestly figure I can't really go wrong with any of them, I just figure I see what people's thoughts were

I personally would want a fixed blade that was ground decently thin behind the edge. I don't know about the guardian but the insingo Nyala is ground nice and thin which makes it a great slicer and cutter.

I've owned a Busse AMS and for a knife with a 3.5" blade it is ground obscenely thick, to the point that I sold it off at a loss.

That is why I really want the Nyala. CRK makes really good slicers, and even though the Nyala is thick the hallow grind makes it durable yet still slicey. Plus the aesthetic is just perfect and non-threatening.

What about picking up a Spyderco mule in your choice of alloy and having it built to your spec otherwise.
You choose the wood, micarta, bone or other handle type, have a sheath built, basically as custom as a factory knife can get.

Where can I customize it? I found a website but can't find much info on it. Can you provide some links?

I have and like the Nyala, but wish it didn't have the swedge. I wish the fiddleback forge bushfinger was out then. It is excellent.

Maybe someone that has owed both will chime in. If the Bradford has similar edge thickness as the nyala I would pick the G3.

Otherwise you might not see as much of a difference in performance as you may think between the two steels.

Lionsteel M5

This is the only thing similar that I've been looking at. Haven't even handled one, but have heard rave reviews on the larger M7.

You would purchase the blade that you want when it pops up on the exchange and find a craftsman through here that can do the scales and sheath.
They aren't hard to do, but since I am not a service provider on here yet, I would defer to others that are allowed to do so.

For reference only, this started as are Becker BK16 (it still is, just dolled up a bit):

In the $200 - $250 range you may also want to look at customs.

There are many fine makers that sell knives her in the knifemakers market section of the exchange. I have purchased quite a few knives directly from maker here like big chris, eloreno, Patton knives, AAforge, AF and others.
