Hi and welcome to BF.

People have said the two knives are comparable, due to the fact they share many of the same design properties.

Whether or not they are 'as good' as each other, well, that's up to the individual comparing them.

I have a Bradley Alias I and like it.

Good general purpose blade shape and the handle fits the hand well. Craftsmanship is up to the standards of knives in its price range and materials.

This "Sebenza knock-off" BS gets old, though. Too many Myna birds.

It clearly is a seb knock off though, aesthetically speaking. It's a great knife for sure, I just wish they didn't try to emulate the look so much.

I have an Alias I too, and I also like it. It IS a Sebenza knock off, albeit a very good one. I honestly don't know how much better a Sebenza could do what the Alias does. I've never owned a Sebenza, but I've handled several, and they are a bit stouter and chunkier than the Alias. I personally like the ergos on the Alias a bit better.

It's difficult to say which knife is "better"- they are very similar. The Sebenza is the "original", so if that's important to you, I'd say get a Sebenza. It's a classic, proven knife that will hold its value well. The Alias will probably never be collectible, but it's a very nice, well made and sturdy user.

I'm currently selling most of my production folders to get an Alias 1.

I love the looks of the Sebenza & I think I like the Umnumzaan even more, but I need to face the facts "That I have Chris Reeve taste, but Bradley money":(

Made by Benchmade...good knife, if a bit expensive for what it is.

I can finally weigh in on this one having owned both knives. The Sebenza is smooth the Bradley is less smooth (think really good Benchmade). The Sebenza feels a little heavy for a Ti framelock IMO. The Bradley feels lighter. The Seb Costs a whole heck of alot more. Both will probably last forever. My final verdict is that the Bradley is the better knife for me. Smooth is nice but the Seb seems a little sluggish when you really want to flick it open, the Bradley has a nice detent and a nice snap. I also prefer the grinds on the Bradley, I think they have more character.

The real kick in the caboose is that for all the posturing and "this is a bargin this or that" they really don't compare well other than in the basic materials and size class. The execution, ginds, lock-up and other characteristics are like night and day, but, both great in their own way.

Here comes the catch...... If you can afford either (but only one) go Sebenza. If you don't you will just keep thinking "man, I like this Bradley but I wonder what that Seb would be like."

Hope I was able to muddy the water a little more.;):D

I prefer the Sebenza, but the Bradley Alias folders represent excellent value at their price point. CPM S30V stainless, 6AL4V titanium frame lock, the utmost quality fit and finish. Beautifully done, made by Benchmade---you just can't match the feel, in my opinion, of a Sebenza.

I hate this Sebenza knock-off crap, they are 2 different knives that happen to be made from the same materials. They are about the same size and are designed for the same purpose. So the Bradley has to be a knockoff? If you think that way, then any Ti framelock with a S30V blade has to be a Seb knock-off too huh? Well I guess you have to add Spyderco to the maker of knock-offs because their making one too, the RIL Ti Sage.

I guess it was purely a coincidence that the Alias has blue backspacers and a blue thumbstud.

Wow, people hate the Sebenza knock off comment, but seem to forget that Mr. Bradley (The one who started Bradley & had the Alias made), set out to make a less expensive, easier to attain knock off of a Sebenza. He had a shop & didn't like having to back-order Sebs so much. Seems as expensive as a Seb is, places/shops seem to sell all they have & then some.

Anyways, if one doesn't like the Seb knock off comments, then complain to Bradley because they knowingly & admittedly made the knife to be a less expensive version of the Sebenza.

As to which is better, it really depends. "spiralarchitect" made a good comment about the "flickability" of the Alias vs the Seb. I don't know about the weight thing, as I've only had a small Seb (3 different ones, but I currently have a small classic micarta that'll probably outlast me), but I've had a few Alias's (Lg. & small-I & II). I thought the small Seb was just as light as the Alias II. I can't comment on the lg. Seb vs the Alias I, which I believe spiralarchitect has. Anyways, I certainly felt the difference between the Alias & Seb.

For me, the Seb's better, but only the small. If I want to carry a larger folder, I reach for my SnG. Again, that's me & my tastes. You certainly wouldn't go wrong getting/using an Alias of either size/model. Personally, I don't care for solid Ti handles. that's why I never kept my CGG Seb.

Anyways, welcome to BladeForums & congrats on your new Bradley Alias. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Apparently there is a lack of understanding as to what a "knock-off" is versus an "alternative".

A "knock-off" is a copy, as one sees in many CCC knives.

And nowhere have I seen nor read where Mr. Bradley states that he set out to make a "knock-off".

Making less expensive alternatives is pretty much the American way.

When is this version of the Sage going to hit the market?
