Looking to buy the Bradley Cutlery Alias 1. Cant afford to spend 400 for a chris reeves knife. The Alias is supposed to be close to the same quality. Any long term use of the knife? How does the knife hold up?

The Bradley is manufactured by Benchmade. It isn't close to the quality of a Sebenza, but it is a good knife. I can't recall anyone posting about disasters. :)

I don't have one but if it is made by Benchmade then I would have to say it is a very good knife. I've owned several Benchmades and personally I've never seen a junk knife come from them. They are high quality knives.

It isn't close? I would say it is. It has a better blade shape IMO, and all you lose is slight tolerance superiority and hand chamfering.

Dollar for Dollar, I would say the Alias is better.

I agree....Very nice for the money. I personally like the blade & handle shape better than the Sebenza.
I may put my LNIB Alias II on the BST area soon, I need cash to fund new purchases.

Most people have had good experiences with the Alias. Is it the same quality as the Sebenza? No, but for around $150 less it's doing pretty good.

I got one not too long ago, but I have yet to have the fortune of owning a Sebenza. It's a great knife for the money, opens fast, stays sharp, and locks up great. I've heard it opens up faster than the Sebenza but the fit and finish is lacking in comparison - the general statement that comes to mind is you get what you pay for and in the Bradley, you get a wicked deal

I bought one because I swore I would never spend the money for a Sebenza. The Bradley is a beautiful knife. But I still bought a Sebenza. Waited a year to get it. I have not even looked at the Alias since I bought it. The Bradley is a great knife, but if you are drooling over a Sebenza, just get it. You will eventually.

I can totally agree with this statement. I drooled over a Seby for years. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a knife. After all, I could buy a gun for that kind of money! I bought everything in between a Sebenza and a MTec trying to find something that was "just as good for the money". But in the end curiosity finally won and I bought a used one at good price. Could have kicked myself for not buying one sooner after I seen what I had been missing! If you want a Sebenza, go ahead and get it now. You will in the end anyway! :D

The Alias is a nice knife. If you can't afford a Sebenza, the Alias has a lot of similar features, and is well made. I own both knives. Anyone care to guess which one I carry every day? :D

I liked the Alias. The Fit and finish was good the blade shape was excellent and the frame lock seemed very well designed.

Before the RIL Sage I considered it to be the best poor mans sebenza.

Even though one was designed to be a readily available version of the other, I don't see them as the same knife. These are opinions of two safe queens; well used versions might change my opinions.

Alias pros
Lighter. Feels thinner in my hand. The edges are less noticeable when holding in my hand. Opens more easily. The thumbstud feels better. The finish on the handle is smoother. Lockup clicks more loudly.

Sebenza pros
Feels more solid and substantial. Opens more smoothly. The spacers are more substantial. The framelock is thicker where it meets the blade. Feels expensive compared to the Alias.

Blades on both knives seem similar. Both are great knives, just different. If you want a great framelock ti folder, the Alias is a good choice. If you want a Sebenza don't buy the Alias, it isn't and never will be anything other than an Alias.

I maxxed out my knife budget for awhile but my next purchase is the Alias I as I personally like the look of it.

I saw it reviewed on YTube before I knew waht a Sebenza was and I want one. It doesn't look that available on the web but I've spotted 3 vendors (other than Bradley) who carry it. I hope it'll be around for awhile. :)

I think it depends on how analytical you are.

If all you care about is how it looks, then ya, get one and save money over a sebenza.

If you care about the engineering details then alias is a clearly inferior. It doesn't have a pivot bushing, the locking face area is much smaller, the washers are much smaller.

Sorry guys, I don't understand? I'll have to try to figure out what you're referring to and post in the Tinkering section before I spend $$ on an Alias I. They're not as pricey as Sebenzas but still well over $200.

The Alias is the same materials as the Sebenza, not the same quality. Benchmade's are definately not junk but they aren't CR's either.
