Has anyone had any experience with Bradley Cutlery specifically the Alias I or Alias II?

A friend of mine showed me a couple of his a little while ago, and I was impressed. Very high quality; approaching Sebenza quality, in fact. Looks like a lot of knife for not a lot of money.

Yep. Alias II.

Very, very nice. Impressive fit and finish, feels 'quality'.

About the only 'bad' things I've heard from people around here is that "it's not a Sebenza!" and "it's too expensive!"

Both may be in fact true, but one, that doesn't make it any less of a really nice knife, and two, nobody pays MSRP.

IMO a $100 knife at best, that tries to look like a sebenza but doesn't come near approaching the quality of one. In fact, I don't think it's as nice as the Buck Mayo 172 which is only around $130 - $150.

Haven't had the opportunity to handle a Bradley knife, but thought I would mention that they are made by Benchmade. Not that that is a bad thing, just thought you might like to know.

Yeah, I heard benchmade makes them. I was just wondering because I wasn't familiar with these knives. Thanks guys

Where do you get a Buck Mayo 172 for $130-150??

"DaveH", I owe you lunch. I happened to be looking for a TNT Mayo when I read this thread. So, I just put one on order with IRAWood. The price is great and, they are providing free shipping. Now the worse part....waiting for the UPS truck.

Sorry to not comment on the original question, but I have never handled a Bradley.

That is an awesome deal on the TNT though! If I hadn't ordered a BM 710 in
M2 this morning, I'd be ordering that!

When this deal has been completed, could you please post your experiences with this company in the G,B&U forum?

Interesting. The fit and finish of my 172 was what I'd call "kinda rough", Nice, but still rough. Sharp-cornered slabs, wonky blade grinds, and a truly sticky lock. Yet still a nice knife.

Obviously, our opinions on the Bradleys differ, but comparing it one to one with my small classic Sebenza, it's pretty close. I still give the nod to the Sebbie though- but Benchmade did a superb job with these- no question.

"A 100 knife at best"? That's a bit of exaggeration, no?

I can only judge based on the 1 Bradley from the passaroud and the 1 172 that I owned.

So for me no it's not an exageration, but I have only those two data points. And I'm only one person.

<shrug>

Well, the two Bradleys I got to check out in person WERE close to a Sebenza in quality. Super nice grinds, centered blades, zero blade play, tight lockup, smooth action, etc... I was impressed, and I'm a picky bastid.

DaveH-

Point taken.

Danbo-

Me too. Real picky bastid and found the same.

To each his own of course, but I feel pretty confident in recommending the Bradley Alias's (Aliuses? Aliai?) to anyone who wants a higher-end production Ti framelock.
