Greetings all, since I don't have a digital camera... I'm going to have to describe the wonderful package I received in the mail today. I'm sure most if not all of you have at least seen Kenny's work. If by now you do not have anything from him, you MUST look into having him make you something.
I had Kenny make 5 things for me. Since this is the custom forum, I should tell you about the two pouch sheathes I had made. The first one is for the famous Terry Primos Platypus. She originally came with a very nice vertical sheath, but I had a slightly canted horizontal sheath made. I gave Kenny a little latitude on what to use and do. Here's what he came up with for this one... a nice Alligator inlay with everything dyed a rich burgandy-brown. Very complimentary to the thuya burl of the handle.
The next sheath is for my newly acquired stag handled Dozier slim outdoorsman. Again, a slightly canted horizontal leather pouch style sheath, this one with a cape buffalo inlay. Totally cool leather!... has alternating bands of caramel and creme colors. Really goes well with the stag.
I also sent two slipjoints with... one approximately 4" long Queen stockman, and the other was the Cattle King stockman from Queen. Now here is where Kenny surprised me... I didn't really know what to expect, I just asked for something simple... a pouch to protect my slippies while in my pocket. For the first one, Kenny made a nice pouch with a fold over cover... out of Ostrich leg leather! Very very cool stuff, dyed a nice deep burgandy color. For the larger slip-joint size, Kenny made the same type of sheath out of a very richly dyed brown Elephant! All four of these sheathes are masterpiece works of ART. I cannot say enough about Mr. Rowe's work. He is a true artisan who knows how to properly cover a custom (and manufactured) knife.
I'm saving the cool one for last... Kenny also made me a custom wallet. Good price too, I might add. For this one, I had some custom modifications... I had him add kydex inserts to stiffen the credit card areas so they wouldn't get any bend and subsequently crack. For a little style, I also had him put in some rayskin inserts. This is a very sharp looking wallet... I'm proud to whip it out now!
You all should do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a fine piece of functional art from the master himself... Kenny Rowe.
Thanks Kenny, and for everyone else putting up with my crowing!
