Looks really cool Im a big fan of the 119! This vs an Ontario Air Force knife? Brahma all the way. Its a sure bet the Ontario would show up with a pathetic edge and 2nd rate blade coating not to mention the rough leather handle. The Brahma will show up just as other 119's do and that is razor sharp! If I hadnt already just bought the new Ka Bar Dogs Head utility knife Id be all over this

Thanks for the specs LV

You're right, what am I thinking :-)
Brahma is definitely the winner, I'm getting one next week!

Now I'll own 2 Buck knives :o

Good on you Rappy! As much as I have wanted to like Ontario I have bought 2 knives of theirs and both were of pretty poor finish quality to say the least. Got the SP10 Marine Raider first and besides having basically a blunt edge where the swedge and grind lines meet on the right side of the blade were miscast and deformed. Still have it though and am going to have a pro edge put on it so I can actually use it. Second knife was the 498 combat knife or the "US Ontario" tang stamped Ka Bar knock off. It also came with next to no real edge sent it out for a pro Wicked Edge job and I just got it back. Now I can literally shave with it. Shouldnt have had to do it in the first place though. My two 119's came bleeding sharp out of the box and Im sure the Brahma is the same way. Here is the Ontario 498 post Wicked Edge:

I darken all of mine somewhat naturally when I snow seal the leather sheaths and the leather handles. it always darkens them as well as protects the leather.

works great.

I also just bought the Brahma.

Got mine yesterday. (April/2015 date on the box)

Really like the leather handles, never totally was a fan of the standard black synthetic handles on the 100 series knives, these are much better to me.

The retro look is totally worth the extra cost to me, makes a great knife even better. Sheath is nice, a little different, but ambidextrous, which is not always the case with Buck fixed blades, so this southpaw thanks them for that.

One negative on this one, out of the box, I immediately noticed black coming off the blade all over my hands, and I used nearly 1/4 of a roll of paper towels wiping the metal parts down, until the black stopped coming off and ended up this dark gray color. Was a real mess.

Another winner for Buck here!

Bear Claw if I may ask Sir, the pommel and guard, are they Aluminum or actual steel? never was clear on that. Great pic also! Mine is coming from GP Knives.

Just made sure with a magnet, the guard and pommel are steel, but the small round "cap" that screws unto the threaded end of the tang(Red Dot) seems to be aluminum.

All of you are making me think I should order one. I did order the 119 club knife, but this might be a good one.

Got mine this week. I like the stacked handle, guard, and pommel at lot!! Sheath is great too
Of course the 119 blade is a classic.

One thing that was a negative was the black finish was coming off by merely rubbing it with a paper towel.
Anyone else have this happen? g

Flat, nice to "see" you [emoji3]. I ordered the Brahma and await it during the next days. I hop I can't wipe the black surface off as you could.

Yes, as stated it is good to see you here G. The answer to your question is yes, the coating wipes off like shoe polish:mad:.

Guys, thanks for the warm welcome back. I've been off the knife thing for a bit, which means I've been preoccupied with fishing tackle and guns LOL.

I like this knife a lot. I gave it a good wiping and the black that wants to come off seems to have.

Just to be clear for future readers - while some of the coating wipes off, it seems to be an excess rather than "the coating." Mine did not wipe down to white metal except perhaps on the edges. It's probably excess left over from powder coating process?

Thought maybe you froze out.

Well it was a cold winter but I've learned how to live up here. The payback is summer and fall are simply wonderful. Fishing here is unmatched in my opinion.

I did a serious double take when I saw JB's pic.

Dug in the "miscellaneous junque" drawer and found this old relic. Amazing how close they are.

This one goes back to WWII and is a pilot survival knife, one of several names for these. I'll be looking for one of the new Bucks.
