Reading here that I didn't care for the stock 882SBTG ATS-34 blade due to the serrations, a nice gent here sent me the mint 2007 889SBMF 420HC blade along with the 2004 882SBTG I purchased from him.
The detent ball scrapes on the 889 blade are the only use it has seen from when I swapped it out to see how the blade looked with the 882 G-10 scales.
After using the 882 for a few months with the serrated ATS-34, I can say that the serrations indeed bug me. Hangs when cutting cardboard and bags of charcoal. Also, as someone asked here before, the stippled work on the 882 gets crud in it from kitchen work.
It's raining today, so I may putz around and swap the blades out for good.
Will miss the edge retention of the ATS-34 but what the heck...choose your problem.
