Brand New CRK Sebenza packaging question - Ummm this is weird

Hello all,

Been away from CRKs for a while. Just picked up a brand new Sebenza 25 (born 08/27/13). When I opened the shipping boxed I got a little confused for a second. Has CRK changed their packaging? I have seen Youtube videos of the 25 and none of the videos had boxes like this nor the flourinated grease and loctite. Below are some pics. Even though I decided to sell this the second I handled it and it is currenlty on the Exchange (the finger choils just don't fit my xl meaty paws - which is too bad since the blade on the 25 is truly the best I have had), I am still curious as to when the packaging switched.

They did switch packaging a few months ago. I believe Heather posted about it. I think what you received is the new "normal".

I'm old so I don't like change, and I am not a fan of the new CRK packaging, but that beein said I'm sure they must have good reasons for doing it. Besides, it makes the old packages more desirable.... ;)

I actually like the new packaging in the fact that loctite and flourinated grease is included, a nice touch really. Its those darn finger grooves that I cant take to the change.

Ive heard that complaint from others here and on YouTube. You either love um or hate um. Personally I like um, and my Drill Sergeant told me that liking leads to loving! One thing I do not like is Knifeart putting the sticker on the box, kind of like those cheap license plate frames dealers put on cars and trucks! Sorry just my humble opinion.

Yes that is the new packaging. Exactly what I received with my 25. And jackthedog is right Heather posted about the package change they made. That's too bad about the handle of the 25 not working for you. It is a great knfe too carry!

I prefer the box and the handwritten birthday cards, but some things are always changing! At least the quality of the knives is still the same or even better:thumbup:

And thats really all that matters! I have Spyderco's, Hinderer, Striders, Grayman and I like them all for what they are.. But I love CRK!!!:)

Hey my 25 was born Aug 27 as well! Cool stuff! Got mine at BladeHQ though

I have wanted to get a Seb 25 for a while now, but got a bit discouraged with the new boxes. I mean I like the new items that come with it, but man those cardboard ones sure do give it that little bit of toughness.

dang! I just but a new starbenza and didn't get any grease with it!

maybe I should buy a 25 now then

I like the new packaging, but I hate the look of the 25.

I am not much for the 25 looks either, feels fantastic though. Good thing there are so many different 21 lg/smalls to choose from :D

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I love the new packaging...looks classy to me..yeah, I dig the "old box" too...and I also think the 25 is incredible. Bold new design that brings the Sebenza up several notches from where it was. And yes, I love the regulars and 21's too:)

I like the new packaging but miss unwrapping my knife from the cloth. The excitement about it or something. I dunno, I'm weird.

Spot on Brother!
After waiting for and somewhat stalking the postman to get each new knife I rather enjoy the Christmas like feeling I get with rolling the knife out of the blue cloth, a little crazy I know, but just another part of the experience.

I'm by no means complaining about something so trivial and especially like that they now provide grease and loc title with each knife, but the roll out will be missed for the next knife or two until the new box becomes a regular thing.

I like the new packaging, but I hate the look of the 25.

I wouldn't go so far as "hate", but I don't like it either. Not the "simple - clean" lines I love in a Sebenza. I guess if I could have a ceramic lock interface and the 25's blade grind on a 21 or better yet a Classic, I'd be set. As for the new packaging, I like it enough that it's not a factor to me.

I think the grease and loctite is only included in the Umnumzaan and 25s right?
Is the grease included in the others like the 21s and the rest?
