Brand New Custom Tactical Tanto Knife by B.K. Johnson. Steel is O-1 tool steel. The black blade is 9.25" long, 1.25" wide and 3/16" thick. It is coated in GUN KOTE brand epoxy finish and is completely corrosion resistant. It has been heat treated to 59-60 Rockwell C hardness it is truly razor sharp! The cutting edge is flat ground while the point is convex ground for durability. The 3.25" top edge is fully sharpened to increase penetration. The blade is serrated for 2.75" towards the handle. The serrations are ground on BOTH sides of the blade for aggressive cutting of rope, webbing or, flesh. This is a very rare serrations pattern which is also extremely easy to re-sharpen. Two quillons one at the spine and the other at the edge side of the blade adorn the knife and protect the user's hand from sliding forward onto the the sharp edge. The blade has been marquenched and double tempered to ensure maximum performance. After initial hardening and tempering the spine has been selectively drawn to a full spring temper. The overall length is 14.5".
The handle has been crafted from abrasive blasted Black Linnen Micarta with white liners. The scales are riveted to the tang with 1/4" brass tubing flared to 3/8" at the ends. this method of attachment uses no adhesives and makes the handle impervious to temperature or, physical shock. The full tang goes on for 7/16" past the handle scales and it forms a unique pounding surface. It is canted thus giving it the ability to be used either as a window breaker / skull crasher or, a tent peg pounding material.
The black sheath is crafted from 9 oz leather and it is extremely well made! Its total thickness is 5/8"! It has a welt which has been sewn into the seam to prevent the knife from cutting the stitching when it is drawn. It has a thick leather retention strap which a snap closure. The equally thick leather belt loop can easily accommodate belts up to 2" wide.
This is an extremely well made knife and it is very fast in the hand. Everything on it screams quality! It is suitable for a wide application of duties.
