Brand New Ritter Mini Grip!!!!

the Doug Ritter grip IMO has always been the best version of this knife just have been hesitant to pull the trigger (i have no idea why)

i kind of equate it to getting my laser vision correction.. WTF was i waiting for and why didn't i do this years ago :)

Problem is it is not smooth at all coming out of the pocket. It drags with rough matted handles and will tear up the pocket on a pair of dockers real fast. For me ,that is a problem.

You can rectify that by slipping a piece of fine sandpaper under the clip, with the abrasive side facing away from the clip and towards the scale.

Slide the paper back and forth and the scale will become smoothed just in the area where the clip presses.
This makes it much less aggressive on the pocket.

The 558 is one of my favourite knives for day to day use.

Well, just got mine and gotta say that I had pang of buyers remorse. It's smaller than I thought. 1/2" more on the handle and it would be sweet. I really like the look, blade profile and blade thickness.

Don't want to piss on anyones cornflakes- just the ups and downs of knife buying over the internet!

2 things.... carry it for awhile and hold it with your thumb resting on the blades knarled edging see if it grows on you i really didnt miss the size IMO over the lesser bulge/weight in my pocket (coming from EDC sog trident benchmade nitrous stryker and emerson cqc7)

also im sure you can return /exchange for the full size if you want that should solve all your problems trust me i spent my entire first day saying to myself "should i have gotten the full size?"

im glad i didnt and the min is more than adequate to handle ANY EDC task

try that grip i said 4 fingers on the handle thumb on the bacj edge knarls but the thumbstubs once i started using it like that i forgot ALL about the smaller handle or for a precision cut 3 fingers on handle thumb resting on side near axis and index resting on knarls above thumbrest.. works for me

hope this helps :)

Yep, it's in the pocket! Nothing answers questions around a knife better than using it. I would rather use it for a bit and lose a couple bucks selling it if it comes to that.

Folding knife perfection- the search continues! :D

lol i hear you my search continues as well i kinda hope i never find the perfect EDC as it would be a sad day in my knife collection

Been carrying my Mini-Ritter for about a month, and really like it. I think it might need a good cleaning, the axis action seems a bit sticky. Not nearly as smooth as my old BM 943. But the size is perfect, much better in the pocket than any EDC I've had in a while. And I love S30V, so easy to get screaming sharp, and the stonewash blade is just beautiful. OK, I'm through gushing...

Yeah, I have a large orange Ritter and a mini black Ritter. They are truly awesome blades. I have huge hands and I still prefer the Mini. The full sized Grips just feel too plasticy for me. The Mini is one of the top EDC knives in my book.
