Brand New Shop

We wouldn't have room for the ShopSmith. Plus it is already in an area that we are turning into a woodworking shop for my stepfather. Ideally, we will have the knife and wood working areas together in the future. For now, a cheap drill press should do it.

Next question... Safety. I was looking at respirators and like the idea of the full face. Should I look at doing eye and lung protection separately or together?

I like the full face. It covers at worst as good as the best eye protection by itself, better than most. You are making tiny dust of metal, wood, glue, fiberglass, carbon fiber, etc... I don't want any of that in my lungs or eyes.

I've tried a lot of setups. I finally settled for a full face. It gives the best vision without interference. And I think it's less of a hassle with just one piece of equipment.
