from now on I'm only buying the mischmetal rods from going gear. They don't just spark, they splatter white molten metal all over your tender. I've never had an easier time starting a fire with just a steel than with these.
oh yeah...even though I think we all buy them from the same place, mine are better!
G'day Carl....I am merely stating the obvious fact that Going Gear, or any other seller doesn't actually MAKE them, so there has to be others with the same formula and many of the ones that do not work as well probably are the same formula with respect to each other.
There are probably only 3 to 4 manufacturers of mischmetal type rods total. Hence, ALL of the rods are probably one of those 3 or 4 types.
Carl-
I've always used LMF but I guess I may need to try the going gear rods after hearing people rave about them all the time.
Maybe his tinder was tender?
Nothing worse than tender tinder, you know.![]()
G'day Carl
This raises a point that in the interest in vigorous of advice needs to be looked at.
If this is true, then it appears that there might just be more than one supplier that supplies the same quality mischmetal steel![]()
Once I obtain a GG mischmetal steel, I'll be in a position to test it against one other supplier that I know also sells a mischmetal rod that produces long burning globs of white hot metal
If they turn out to be the same, rest assured, future recommendation from myself will be based on the quality of the rod, rather than any percieved perception of preferred supplier :thumbup:
Kind regards
Mick
There are only a few major manufacturers in the world, but like any manufacturer, they all make different things for different people. I have seen different alloys from the same manufacturer that differ wildly in performance. I buy the ones that worked the best in the most conditions based on my testing and customer feedback.
