Brands that don't mind disassembly???

Makers that charge me extra , to use proprietary fastens on a tool , that makes my life more complicated and difficult, is not for me .

Likewise anything stronger than a medium strength Loctite is a big nope .

Availability of routine repair and service parts is more important than a warrantee, to me .

Cold Steel has basically neither , but I buy them anyway because they rarely need anything .

Knives should be as simple as, robust and reliable as possible , IMO .

No warrantee makes up for a knife that's made to need one .
 
Kershaw! I remember that video when Livewire was introduced. KAI employes recomended to take it apart for ocasional cleaning and stated there's nothing difficult about it. And it is indeed really straight forward with Livewire.
Also Axial Gear was recommending to take care of their products on your own and incluided bits for disassembling.
 
I have never had a problem with disassembling or reassembling my vintage Gerber USA Harsey AirFrames, except that, if I recall, I think they actually use SAE allen bolts, rather than metric, despite being produced in the late 1990s-early 2000s. They might be the only thing I own that actually uses SAE fasteners. I own an entire set of SAE mechanic's tools that almost never get used, because most things in America switched to metric back in the 1980s.
