Of course you have the plates ITE. Yup. Of course you do. I should have known. OK, okay. Start banging out those brass scales!!!

Okay Oregon, how many set do you need... I'm also making a few in .999 gold and silver and 5 bronze ones...
Put your order in now... ;)

Knife weighs 3.6 ounces and solid brass opener weighs a heavy 13.3 ounces. That brass classic should feel substantial in your hand.

You know ITE. There is a proven way to keep brass shiny now that didn't exist when the original brass Buck Classics were made. Its used on plumbing fixtures, door hardward and such. I wonder about this PVD technology and if it would be economical and useful in cutlery applications where tarnish is an issue like it is with brass.

Here is a quote from a faucet mfg:

"What is a Brilliance® finish?

If your faucet has a Polished Brass, Pearl Nickel or Stainless finish, you have a Brilliance® finish. Developed with a patented process using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Brilliance® molecules are embedded deep into the faucet's surface, creating a bond that is virtually indestructible. Some Brizo® faucets have a split finish, which includes two finishes, usually chrome and one of the above Brilliance® finishes."

That would be nice if your Buck knives or other knives looked new all the time...:thumbup::thumbup:

Still no camera and I don't drink alcohol. FYI.

I can't speak to the number of polished banner 111s that were built but you can expect to find both matte and polished banners. Both 3 and four dot blades. Both polished and satin blades and the polished blades had dots and Buck Custom Tang stamps. Further, for those of you who go for the really rare stuff, five were made from brass with satin blades and matte banners. By the way, the handles are not engraved they are coined in a process like they make our pocket change. FYI."

Richard M,

can you tell me if your Brass Buck 111 Classic has a 3 or 4 dot satin blade and is your rear spacer (Spring Holder) and Lockbar polished or satin??? And also does yours have Brass or Stainless Steel rivets or pins holding it together and is the rocker rivet Brass or Stainless Steel??? What is a matte banner??? ...

Thanks for your time... ITE

Satin 3 dot blade, brass rivets, satin finish rocker (lock bar) and rear spacer. Rocker pin may be stainless but I haven't looked at it in a while. A matte finish banner is non reflective much like the satin blade. The banner kind of looks like it was scraped with a flat tool. Hope that helps.

Thanks Richard, for all the info... That's what I needed to know... Thanks again, ITE

The first time I saw a brass 111 was about 20 years ago at the old plant in El Cajon. When I asked around, I was told that they made about 20 of the brass 111's. Why? because the company that was stamping out the aluminum ones told us that aluminum is really tough on dies. We could get a lot more parts off the dies if we made them out of brass. They sent us samples, they weighed a tad more than the aluminum ones, we passed on the idea. All standard parts were used as far as the blade, rocker and spring holder go.
Oh, and they also made some of the 515 in brass!!!
I've never seen one of them but heard there were less of them than the 111 brass.
So 5 of the 111's were made, or 20. In either case, thats not very many right?
It figures that ITE would find one!

Armand,

You need to set the hook on the brass 111 first and reel it in. We need some good photo's of it;). Then you can go trolling for a 515.....LOL!

Congratulations ITE!!!

As the overjoyed cutlery collectors carried Armand thru the city streets upon their square shoulders throngs of ecstatic cheering knife aficianados showed their joy at ITE's achievement, he went out into that cold cruel world and got himself a brass 111 Classic, confettii floated lightly from office windows and all would sleep soundly in the knowledge that knife history was being preserved and cherished in worthy, knowledgeable and capable hands.

Yeah. I'm guessing that's one that will never turn up on e-Bay.
