In the 25+ years I've been collecting custom knives, brass has never been popular. I stopped buying factory knives with brass when I left a brass bolstered knife in the sheath. Several months later when I removed the knife from the sheath, the bolsters were green and growing fuzz.

Silicon bronze is the alloy sculptors use to make statues. As it ages, it turns a very nice looking dark brown.
