Brass scratches

Hoping im asking in the right spot, but when i buff my brass knife bolsters and get them polished to suit me , it dont take long before i start wiping finger prints off , then i start getting them little scratches. went to looking and found a coating called Everbrite coating, supposed to keep brass from tarnishing and scratching .has anyone ever used such stuff ?

Something that would prevent scratches in brass, and prevent tarnish - that would be GREAT!!! Back when the wife and I first purchased a 40 ft sailboat for a live-aboard we thought the brass wheel and ships bell needed to be bright 'n shiny. After many hours (days & weeks) work they were nice 'n shiny. It wasn't long before we learned to LOVE the natural patina of brass. No more polishing of brass then
