after reading on every single handle material on bark riveer bravo-1, a lot of hours and asking questions on blade forums. i had just heard about the bravo-1 in birdseye maple, which is my favorite handle material of all time.
however it is not listed on the site. and unless im blind i did not see it.
however on high adventure outfitters site, there is one listed as bocote which IS listed on bark river site. but this bocote was very different, please clear the confusion because if there is a bark river bravo-1 in birdseye maple im buying it. http://highadventureoutfitters.com/hao_pages/prod_162.htm

I think you should have no problem getting one. The 2008 run of the Bravo-1 is currently on-going, and if I understand correctly should only be hitting distributors right now. Mike Stewart has not even posted the gallery of photos up yet, which he always does during a run of knives.

You could either way a couple more days and see if they start showing up at the more popular distributors, or you could contact one directly and see if they can put in the request with BR. I don't think it is too late for a request, but is getting close.

I like birds eye maple too. Good luck.

The Bravo-1 you referenced is bocote - neat wood. It should, as the other 'natural' handled Bravo-1s, come with a leather sheath. I noticed that KSF has a few Bravo-1s - but nothing in natural handles. The synthetic handled units come with the Molle-like nylon sheath... I don't think that has changed.

I chose the Gameskeeper - similarly bladed, but without that thumb 'rise' and with a finger guard - and made of the same .215" A-2. I noticed KSF has both a bocote and a natural elder burl, with mossaic pins, still in stock. Of course, wait a few days... DLT and KSF will have more Bravo-1s - it's a great selling product. I chose the nat canvas Micarta Gameskeeper, as I just wanted the knife... all five of my BRs were chosen that way - least expensive handle. My sixth one will be a 'looker'... I know if it's a BR, it'll be a great knife, anyway!

Here are, L-R, my Buck 119, BM Activator+, BR Huntsman, & BR Gameskeeper:

Bravo 1 is awesome. But the kydex sheath is less than awesome.. Opt for the leather sheath or make one right away.

If you want one in Bird's Eye or Bocote, go here or here. Call 'em up, and say, "I want a Bravo-1 in Bird's Eye Maple with a leather sheath."

I think the BRKT crew is making a run of Bravos right now, so don't delay!

seems like a hassle, but im gonna get a bravo-1 in green canvas, a mikro canadian in green canvas, and a nice sheath and some firesteel.
how much would that all add up to as i cant seem to find the mikro canadian in green canvas on the net

crystalfallstradingcompany.com has the mikro canadian II in green canvas but not the mikro canadian. Ive dealt with crystal falls and their customer service is second to none.

I could be wrong, but I thought I just read recently something to the effect that "Micarta and G10's comes with kydex and Wood and natural materials come with leather sheaths."

I would check to be sure before ordering, but since you want BE Maple, you should get leather.

I must be sniffing glue fumes again :D I can't find anything supporting the previous statement I posted. I swore I read something regarding that, but no luck finding it.

No i'm pretty sure youre right. I was just throwing it out there. The natural material handles come with leather as far as i know. Theyre about $50 more expensive and come with the leather sheath from sharpshooter i think. Mine came with a kydex which i was less than fond of. So I stitched up my own sheath with a firesteel loop.

there was a black leather sheath which i was particular fond of, why all the hate for the kydex, i was afraid of the blade cutting through the leather, but now i want the leather. does anyone know about the black leather sheath im talking about? and where is the cheapest place to get them that are certified dealers with BRKT

All the ones I've seen are about the same price. Around $52 or so. I believe I know the one. Surely you're talking about this one

I'd invest in a leather sheath. The first weekend i took my bravo out to use it on an overnighter i camped near a gravel area by the river. I noticed the kydex gets lots of debris stuck it in. rocks and sand and such which are quite difficult to get out and could damage the blade while in there. So when I got home I went to the leather store picked up a nice heavy piece of horsehide and stitched up my own. Complete with firesteel loop.
