I'm not really keen on tanto blades, but I figure I should at least try one once. I figure to buy something modest in price, and I'm not keen on the CRKT M series, so I have it down to two possibilities:

H & K Ascender

Kershaw Brawler


These are both solid companies. Any opinions on which to go for? I'd prefer hearing from folks who have used one, or even better, both.

I haven't held that Kershaw model yet, but I'll say that I'm not fond of the H&K you listed. (I assume you're looking at the full size?) It didn't ride in the pocket well for me, and I didn't care for the grind, almost seemed too wide. That Kershaw looks like a nice product, and I'm a fan of flippers anyway. Have you ruled out the Cold Steel Voyager Tanto line yet? I would consider them worth a look.
