A customer gave me some rosewood that is over 100 years old. It was salvaged from a residence that was being demolished. It was 2 1/4" square and about 18" long. I ripped it down the middle and it has a little grain.
I have never used this type of wood. Any input from you folks.
Thanks,
Mike

Brazilian rosewood is very nice stuff; holds up well and doesn't really need stabilization! Takes a nice polish!

I made a 1' x 2' hanging jewelry box out of Brazilian Rosewood for my wife. It sands and polishes up very nicely. I had some left over, and it is in my handle supply bins.

I haven't used any of it for knife handles, but it is a very nice wood to work with. It has a very deep rich color, as you can see from the photos I'm attaching. It's a beautiful wood that is very stable, without being stabilized. The doors on this box haven't grown or shrunk in 3 years, and that's saying a lot here in the Pacific Northwest where it's bone dry in the summer and damp the rest of the year. The hickory cabinet doors in my shop grow and shrink from day to day, whereas Brazilian Rosewood doesn't move much at all.
