Will brazing on a guard effect ht,or if i am going to braze on the guard should i do it before ht?I know there would be less heat with solder, but with my guard, having a less than perfect fit,i need something to fill the gap and something brass to match the guard.

Thanks Keith

Hi Keith, go to your local welding supply and get some easy flow brass solder or use easy flow silver solder and some good brazing flux. You should be ok with 400*f heat treat after the soldering, either solder will look decent after cleanup. If you can't get the solders at the welding supply, try Rio Grande jewelers supply. Have fun & good luck.

By all means use solder rather than brazing it on. The high heat required to braze it will ruin your heat treat.
