Breaking in Boots - question

Soak 'em & Beat them with a rubber mallet....it's what I do to Soccer cleats ,then wear 'em , I do the same to my leather hiking boots.... Good socks help as well

Years back I had a pair off duty boots for work. Killed my feet. kept thinking they'll break in soon. This went on for about two months until we had a flood situation in our area. had to rescue an elderly couple from their home that was getting swamped with about two feet of water. Was sloshing thru the water for about an hour. When we got back to the station I realized my feet didn't hurt anymore. The water works.

I have used the water method also... with good results.

Never tried the rubber mallet though, I'll have to remember that..... :D

I've had several pairs of Zamberlan's and they have all required breaking in (not as bad as my Asolos, but not as good as my Raichle's, which required almost no break-in)

In my experience, the quickest way to break them in is to get them wet and wear them (walking) until dry, make sure you are wearing good socks if you go this route. You may have to do this more than once.

A good pair of insoles will help take up some extra space, if your feet are moving around inside the boot you will get blisters.

If you are wearing your boots daily, it's always good to get into the habit of using a good foot powder at the end of the day, one with zinc oxide, such as Gold Bond Extra Strength. The zinc oxide used repeatedly will toughen your skin and keep the blisters away.
