Just saw on the news that in Irvine, CA (which is about 30 minutes from my house) At an Albertsons (supermarket) a former employee who has some mental illness went into the store and starting literally hacking people with a machete, the news anchor first states the guy was using a samMOOrai sword(thats how she pronounced it) then later on some other guy said it was a machete. The guy killed two people and injured several others.

Talk about enforcing the negative image of knives. Now more then ever people will only see knives are weapons

That's what they get for living in Cali. Do that here or in Texas or Vermont or other well run states and someone woulda pulled out a gun and dropped him where he stood.

ok, how can I get residency status in Texas? I would really like to pack a glock or something, and not conceal my fixed blades...:D

Probably a strange thread to choose to delurk myself, but, hi.

There was a similar incident here (southwest GA) just last week, I think it was. Maybe the week before. A man walked into a Winn-Dixie with what was described as a pocket knife with a 4 inch serrated blade and just attacked a man in the frozen food section. Stabbed him once in the back and a few more times in the chest before an employee dumped a display of ice cream cones on the guy. After the police arrived to arrest the attacker he supposedly asked them what had happened. Reports said he has a history of mental illness and had gone off his meds.
And I know that plenty of people down here carry guns, so I wonder where they were that day...
Though it's probably just as well since someone besides the attacker would probably have gotten hit.

So... I like knives but I hope to never find myself using one on someone or defending myself against one.

The guy was wearing clothes also...knives don't kill people, clothes kill people. We should ban clothes.

Ban on wearing clothes? That ban should, nay I say must be for good looking people weighing under 130 lbs only!!!!!!!!!!!! Those of us that are overweight/not extremely pleasant to look at need all the clothes that we can get.

Despite my mom's encouraging remarks, I do believe I fall into that category ;)

Clothes baby! From my cold dead waistline!

Same here for your neighbors to the east. That's also why, if you have a concealed carry permit, for God's sake, carry a gun. It does you no good at home or in the car

Come on kids...TRY to stay on topic...This ISN'T the "Whine & Cheeze" forum!..

Texas requires a permit

Only states that require no permit are Vermont, and recently AK.

Colorado though, or Denver, recently added unlicensed open carry.

The dude was a 40 year old bag boy, I think the red flag should have been raised a LONG time ago. He was also walking around in Southern California, in the SUMMER with a black trenchcoat on. And, coworkers heard him walking around talking to himself all the time. Someone just was not paying attention.

Oh, that's a brilliant statement...

People who voluntarily live in a state who's governemnt has for years done their best to take away every leagal method and recourse for their citizens to defend themselves bear some of the cupability themselves.

Either through legislation or moving they could have changed this by allowing themselves legal methods to defend themeselves.

And honestly, don't really care what you think of my statement.

Okay, listen up Californians, move to OK, it must have no crime at all! And since you don't care anyway, your statement was retarded.

last time I'll comment on this, as you're boviuosly turning it something that belongs more in W&C than in the blade discussion forum.

First, didn't say there wasn't crime here, just said we haven't let our legislators take away our rights to defend ourself. Ref. the Oklahoma Self Defense Act, which has even recently been amended to lower the age required, alllow reciprocity with more states, and other things.

Secondly, your "logic" (or lack thereof) in saying that me not caring means it's retarded just makes me laugh. Doubt anyone in the world besides you thinks it's retarded to NOT care what some faceless person on the Internet thinks of your comments. More likely the complete opposite

Wasn't calling you out to have a pis$ing contest. Your view that people deserved to die because of the state they live in is what was retarded. (I assume that's what you meant when you said "That's what they get...") L.A. County will not issue any CCW permits, but other counties will. I'm sure it's still harder to get one than in some other states, but not impossible. I live here, and I love it. I get tired of hearing the bashing that goes on from other states about CA. You don't like it good! Stay out, we have WAY too many people as it is. Nuff said.

I'm in central California where it is very conservative...can carry any size folder concealed, any size fixed exposed, and it is easy to get a CCW permit, I am in said process now. Lots of pigs that are legal all year, 10 minutes to ocean fishing, same for a couple lakes and Nat'l Forrest land, plus it's about 72 degrees year round.

Not to mention we are about to have the Terminator as our Governer! Think I'll stick around for a while and

Pismo is an awesome area, I spent many summer camping trips there. You can go into the city, head out to the beach or up into the Sierra's, I'm jealous!
