Breeden Pathfinder with zebrawood

This Pathfinder has a 4 1/2" blade and handle. I gave it some zebrawood scales, black liners and brass pins. Shaping the handle was a pain because the scales were very thick. Zebrawood likes to chip when you plane it so if took a while to shape.

Soaking it in Danish oil for a while brings out the chatoyance. The colors completely change depending on which angle you view it from.

i have a small block of zebrawood that i hope will look that nice all oiled up...
 
Now that is sweet looking, after all that plaining your hands are probably too tired to hold that knife, after you make the sheath for it you should send it to me and rest up a bit.

Looks great - I tend to rhink of the pathfinder as a nesmuk style too!

It can be weird stuff to work with. Sometimes it has some soft spots or voids you can't see. Probably not an issue with thinner scales though.

If you soak it overnight it gets a lot darker and loses contrast. But it makes the wood reddish. The super chatoyance only happens with the oil soak. I soaked this one for 4 hours.

This is an overnight soak.
