Well, I’ve been a little busy, but Brian shipped a few toys to me. First, I’ve really wanted to try out his modified Snow and Nealley kindling axe. This has a pretty heavy head, but the execution seems excellent.

Second is his outstanding Bushcrafter Knife…I have the stabilized curly birch and it’s just beautiful. I must say that Brian’s execution of a bushcraft knife is second to none. It handles very comfortably in all the requisite bushcraft holds and I’m really looking forward to getting outdoors with it:

I’m flying out to Afghanistan next week, so my wife is going to mail my Bushcrafter to Talfuche in August for one of his Quad-Carry sheaths…

Lastly, I wanted to get my son an improved bushcraft knife to his first Mora. It’s Brian’s “Boy’s First Knife” with G10 tiger handles. I’m hiding it until Christmas (if I make it back from Afghanistan in time), but it’s smaller than I thought. I will say that it’s a superb little knife with fat handles…very much needed for children with less dexterity. If it turns out to be too small, I may put her up in the exchange, but I’ll let him try it out first. I really like his sheaths…very well done with a very hard set and waxed thoroughly…a very safe method for carrying!

Another little surprise of a knife I’ve recently been EDCing when in civi’s is Spyderco’s Perrin-designed Street-Beat knife. What a little gem; I wasn’t expecting such a well designed little blade. I’m undecided on the very slight recurve, but the sheath works quite well for horizontal cross draw carry and I’ve actually forget several times I was wearing it!

Thanks again Brian…for those thinking about a custom knife, Brian’s site carries several to include some by Breeden, another outstanding knife maker with awesome designs; excellent prices for the workmanship you receive and something that’s not only functional but great looking as well. Sadly, they’ll have to sit in the safe for a while until my return, but I promise to get them out (hopefully back in GA) and do a little chopping, bushcrafting and whittling.

Brian's work is incredible ... I really want one of those modified Snow and Nealley kindling axes.

Great stuff. From experience I know you will love that axe and Bushy.

Great choices bro!

Fantastic read and review, man that handle is awesome on the bushcrafter....I have wondered about the Spyderco, thanks for the tip.
When you go to the sand box, watch your 6 Bro. If you scalp anyone, save the pics for us.:D

Too bad they have to sit for a while, I mean, you could always send them out to be pre-tested for you :p

Just kidding. Nice blades

Yeah, I thought about it...and not that I don't trust the members of WSS, but I'm caught between a deployment that could be 4 months or 12 months and we are supposed to be moving in November/December...a little too much turmoil for me:o

I will let Talfuche play with it for a couple weeks and demand he takes some pictures so I can view from Afghanistan:thumbup:

Thanks for the comments guys, Brian really does deserve all the credit...all I did was open the box, handle and take a few pictures:D

That's a helluva good selection of tools, amigo! Well done. Brian does some of the best work for bushcraft tools period.

Yep Brian Andrews does some great work on them axes and knives of his.
Very cool ROCK 6.

Hey Rock,

I meant to ask you the age of your boy before I made that knife. I got caught up in things, and just ended up making it.

I made it around my son's hand, who is only 6. If it doesn't work out for him, get a hold of me before doing anything. I would prefer to hook you up with a properly fitted knife, rather than seeing you have to make compromises with that one. Don't worry, I will take care of you there.

Nice pics, by the way. I really like that syperdco too!

Great looking set of toys ya have there buddy !

I know I've said it before but IMO Brian's version of the Scandi Buchcraft design is the best out there, period !!!!

Yeah, I'm partly to blame on that as well. I'll shoot you an email and see if we can get this started before I ship out...thanks again Brian!
