So I posted my intro post earlier today and saw that there are quite a few people from Pittsburgh. I'm from Pgh and now live near Ohiopyle State Park. When I was young there were a few places that sold knives in the Pgh area. As far as I know they are all out of business. There was one in Monroeville Mall, Ross Park Mall another in Butler, Cranberry and a few smaller ones around.

I know about the gun/knife shows that pop up every so often. But are there any places that sell quality knives in Western PA or Morgantown WV?

Theres edgeworks in fredrick md. Probably about 2 hours from you. Nice store and it's in a pretty cool section of town to walk around in. Also a pretty good record store about a block down if you still have a record player lying around.

What did you think of the place? Worth taking a ride from here?

Love to see that Queen in abalone. I'm heavy into the traditional knives these days.

I mean no disrespect but I'm confused?? I haven't bought or sold anything nor do I have any feedback about anyone or any store specificaly. How is this not a General Knife Discussion topic?

Questions asking where to buy will always end up with referrals to stores or dealers. Discussion of stores and dealers does not belong in the general knife discussion, it belongs here in the Good, Bad, and the Ugly.

Well it was just as you would expect for a Pensyltucky style knife shop. Lots of military, Ontario, ESEE, Buck etc stuff with some cheap stuff. No customs or higher quality knives (not that I'm knocking ESEE). No Spyderco, Kershaw, Microtech, Autos or balisongs. Two small cases with Case, Buck and Queens Cutlery pocket style knives. The owner (Dan?) was real nice to talk to. He gave me a deal on these two knives. I paid $130 out the door. I would of paid $150 online for the same two knives. Plus the other benefit of a brick and mortar store is that I can handle the knives before buying. There were at least 100 pocket style knives in those two cases and I was able to evaluate immediately which ones I would like. That just can't be done on line even with Youtube. Even after researching and watching Youtube videos I probably end up returning 1/3 of the knives I buy as soon as I open the package.

Nice, the Queen jack is superb. Might have to go out there and see if they have another one like it. Sounds like the best thing anywhere near Pittsburgh. They have a few others I'm interested in too. Thanks for the pics and feedback.
