I'm flying to CO Springs in a few weeks and driving back to MD, more than likely just going to take 70 the whole way.
Anyone know of any good knife shops to hit along the way?
Would prefer to not veer more than 1/2 hour off of 70.
Thanks in advance...

Doing a little research on my own, looks like GPKnives is definitely on the itinerary!!

Grand Prairie for sure. Only inches off the interstate.
If you take a more southern route, either coming or going, there's Shepherd Hills Cutlery right off I-44 in Lebanon, Missouri.

+1 for GPKnives, I've never been to the store but I've ordered from them in the past and had a few perfect transactions.

GP knives is a great choice. I usually stop there when I am traveling cross country on I-70. Great selection of knives, great folks to deal with, and very convenient.

Depending on how you travel back, New Graham Knives should be a stop, it's on the WV/VA line, more than a half hour though. Stop in and see Sean at Edgeworks in Frederick when you get back. If I was in Carroll county, I'd be at Edgeworks every weekend.

The Spyderco factory is on your trip?

Hey man, I'm in Westminster also.
If you ever want to do any face to face trading shoot me a PM.

I may try to swing by New Graham.
Fortunately for my bank account I'm on the northern side of Carroll County, about 40 minutes from Edgeworks. It's a really fun place to visit, though.
I don't think I'll be close enough to Spyderco to stop by.

If you're taking I70 we would be pretty hard to miss. Keep in mind our storefront is closed on Sundays and Mondays though. Hope to see you stop by!

GP Knives is definitely worth the trip. I've bought from GP five or six times. Although I've bought online, I prefer the store, even though it's nearly an hour from my house, because the selection there is insanely good and the service is always great. I literally think of excuses to drive over there every three months or so.

Same for me with Edgeworks. I go out there when there is a small knife show about a half hour west, in the summer after a powwow near there and usually on Black Friday.

I might try to make it to another shop in OH (that I'm not sure is a paid dealer on this site) right off 70 to check out some autos...

I just passed Smokey Mountain Knife Works at about 2 this morning. I was kicking myself for not being there during open hours.

Pull in and wait until they open up... ;)

I'd like to head down there one of these days, but it's on the other side of the state from Memphis. Thinking of a Memphis/Nashville/Smokey Mountain Knife Works trips. Blues, see if I can find some real country western instead of the country pop crap, and KNIVES. Sounds like a great vacation to me.

Oh yeah, Memphis BBQ.

HA! I've been listening to the Joe Rogan Experience interspersed with Waylon, Hank, Willie, and Jamie Johnson. Had a good pulled pork sandwich for lunch and finished it with a fried peach pie

And speaking of all that, it's time to get some Outlaw State of Mind, Regulator, and some Evil Ways playing.

Lmao, edit again, since I just crossed Lake Eufaula in beautiful Oklahoma I think some Stoney LaRue and Cross Canadian Ragweed is called for instead

Joe Rogan has been talking a lot lately about custom knives. Hasn't mentioned any makers, but did mention custom kitchen cutlery a couple times and how he's been talking to a custom knife maker that specializes in kitchen cutlery. Murray Carter maybe?

T-minus 6 days 'till I'm in CO, ,aybe a day and a half 'till I start the drive back.
Will try to get pics at GP and Rivers Edge.

Went to Edgeworks Saturday. Bought an ESEE 4-HM. Such an improvement over the 4, IMHO.
The kid that helped me was great. Noticed my pocket clip and asked what Sebenza I was carrying. was friendly and helpful, said he drives an hour to work there because he loves it so much.
The other kid was pretty douchey. Seemed like it was a hassle for him to open a cabinet for me, gave the first kid grief for asking him to double check and make sure they gave me the right sheath.
If I ever open a knife shop, I know which kind of kid I want working for me...

Safe travels. I know one of the kids that works there is going to the academy to become a state trooper. Good kid, lives up 15 in Thurmont.
