Bring back LMIW sheaths!

Seems to me that a lot of us, including myself are on the hunt for LMIW sheaths.

From what I've seen, people are paying twice as much for them now. I know that I personally want a Foot Long and a JH if I ever get a B-11.

Since the sheaths are so sought after, I'm sure all of us would gladly pay more for them.

Maybe if we all show our support and agree to pay higher prices, we can make their business more profitable, thus bringing them back!

What do you say gang?

What are the features of the LMIW that make them so desirable?

I see two buckled pouches(any internal pockets in them?),
owner fitted kydex liner,
Velcro secured retention strap (some are snap type though?)
drop leg loop(is it removable?),
some form of grommets or small loops for sling attachment,
maybe a few more besides being US made.

Never owned one, need to hear from folks with experience if they are willing to share.

Perhaps re-purposing some other pouch(s) and attaching that to the widely available kydex sheaths would be an idea?

I'm on board. I think I'd be willing to pay $125 each if it brought them back. I have 1 in hand now (black, another on the way (tan), both from the secondary market, and I'll probably want to get at least one more (camo).

Good idea!

In addition, I think that we should collectively discuss putting together another special HOG offering request to the boys over at LMIW as had been done previously-with the hog patch, embroidery, etc... Maybe even collectively work directly with them on an improved concept. That way even if it's not ultimately in their business model to begin offering sheathes again to the general public on a regular basis, we could generate enough interest here to warrant materials purchase, etc... for a limited run...

Perhaps in Black, Tan, Digi camo, etc... so we can load up...!?!

I offered to help float them the material and productions costs (plus free business consulting from a pro) and I still couldn't get one.

Maybe they just got sick of the business. It's a shame. Great idea about doing a limited run so that us Hogs can stock up!

Yeah, I love that idea. I wonder if they'd do a limited run for us Hogs if we generated enough interest at a higher price. I'd love to get some with that Scottish Hog patch!!!

Yes! They could charge way more for them than they were. I wish I would have bought one when they were still around. Maybe when the basic 10 comes out we could get Jerry to talk to them and see if the LMIW footlong could be the stock sheath for the B10. If they had the demand for a few hundred more sheaths maybe they would make them.

As far as I'm aware, Beth and Charlie are no longer making these sheaths. I spoke to Beth around January and have been over to see them on a few different occasions. Last I heard they were going to stop LMIW and concentrate on their business that actually paid the bills. This is straight from Beth. I was disappointed to find out my sheath would not be made. That being said, Beth and Charlie are great people who had to make an extremely tough decision. I personally think at some point they will come back and start producing again. I mean they do know that their products kick some serious ass. Boys if you can find 'em, buy 'em. If you got 'em, keep 'em.

Thanks for the first-hand info. I would easily pay double for their sheaths and as others have pointed out, so would they. I love the idea of the footlong being the stock sheath for the B-10. Anyone that knows them first hand should let them know that there are tons of hungry hogs (and I'm sure other knife lovers/survivalists) that want their sheaths and are willing to pay 50-100% more than their former prices. I don't know who would turn down that offer.

correct I talked with Beth back in January as she gave me one of the last footlongs for helping redesigning the pin assy for them and they just was not making money on the sheath side of the business to make it worth wild to do..... I hope the best for them and maybe they'll return(fingers crossed)
I seen a few selling at $100 and one giving away(not on BF)

I'm in  Was hunting a LMIW sheath for my B-11 for a couple of months and finally gave up. If they were up for sale again I'd not care that much about the price.

I would love to see them back in business. I agree they could charge way more for them, because they are awesome sheaths. I would be in for a couple more.

I would be down for 3. I love my current J holmes and we need the footlong for the basic 10. I would pay higher prices as well.

As the sig states, I'm always lookin'! I'd drop $120 right now. I've had a wanted thread posted for over a month with little hope. I am however working on an easy alternative. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Given that it seems unlikely that LMIW are going to come back, I seem to recall a thread about Spec-Ops planning to make a new, longer sheath. Any updates there?

Can someone enlighten me on what I'm reading about as I'm unfamiliar with all of it. What is lmiw and what was so special about them?

I have no idea if lost mountain iron works is taking custom orders still or not given the website info. The benefit that I see is that the construction is excellent and gives the user a ready built 2 pouch system with a modular pall's/natick snap back panel. While you could make a system yourself out of a kydex sheath and another set of pouches, any such system is going to have the problem of either being loose, having extra space taken up by the modular interface between sheath and pouch, or having to many spaces for dirt to get caught in. The set up is nice for those who want a small kit with their knives at all time who are willing to wear the extra weight on their belts.
