Recent comments made me realize what a great treasure and resource old LT was/is! I don't know all the politics of his exiting, me being a relative newbie, but the odd comment here and there makes me realize that he knows the older Schrades; Cut Co.s, and probably Waldens as good or better than anyone! You all probably realize that they are more my area of interest than the later stuff, as great as the post ca.'73 stuff is.
This forum needs LT's input to cover the WHOLE Schrade story, and we're missing that history. I don't know what it will take, but I'd like to hear suggestions. Like all misunderstandings, egos may be involved, but in the interests of the greater good, maybe they can be put aside??
I've written him asking him to come back. Might help if more people do the same. Lt we miss you here, if you're listening.:(

I'll do the same. Hopefully enough good words can help mend some wounds. Don't know what happened, but he's a definite resource that's good to have.

Rich made a stand and a decision not to post here anymore, and as we know, a man's word is pretty important, extremely important to some.

I already wrote him about this. He appreciates the kind words and support from all.

The ball is in his court.

I too, feel that there is a big hole here without him around. As we have discussed before, all of us as a whole make up this Schrade forum. Some people research, some collect knives, alot ask questions which get people thinking. Some like myself don't add a whole lot to the equation, but we all do what we can. It all adds up to the collective knowledge and history that has been compiled.

I called LT and talked to him for a while yesterday. There are some people who value their word and integrity above everything else. Rich is one of those people. That is why he is so good to do business with, he always meets his commitments, but mostly he exceeds those commitments.

He has given his word and will not go back on it. His post since he left have been in response to requests or, in the case of the picture he posted about the knives I made for him, he was fulfilling a promise he made to me before he left.

As long as he feels bound by the promise he made, he will not post.
I, of one, sure wish he would change his mind, but I am not holding my breath.

Dale

I for one will feel honored, and NOT disappointed if Lt changes his mind! The greater good will be served, and a sip or two of schnapps would be in order!

Speaking of...

Ha anyone heard from Phil (textoothpk)? He was quite disappointed with the goings on and decided to take a break.

I hope they both come back soon. I enjoyed their posts and learned a lot from both.

cs

I have emailed Phil. I bought some things from him on ebay (& bidding on another now). He was as you said, "disappointed" with the way things were were going here and refused to take sides. He said he is on AAPK forum sometimes.

I wish he would return here also. Without all his posts on Frontier knives & how great they are, I don't have much competition in buying them on ebay. I have been getting some good ones, pretty cheap. :D

I am leaving this thread.........it is too sad. :(

Dale

I am more a reader than a poster here, but I must have missed the fireworks. Can anybody post an ultra short version, minus names if best?

I miss LT's posts, he was a real scholar on Schrade.

I guess I brought it back up, but it was just under the surface, and I didn't like the feeling of something missing!
Maybe it's time to change the Schrade forum slightly to put everyone back on an even footing.
Everyone who wants to, comes back with a fresh sheet, to make of it what you will. I for one no longer wish to pretend nothing unpleasant happened. It gets in the way of the real work and enjoyment, that of tracking the history, identifying and enjoying the knives, sharing and bragging, and joking around!!
I wish I'd been here and more of a veteran, so I'd have the full feel of the misunderstandings that led to this state of affairs, but be that as it may, my proposal is this:
1) Change the Forum name slightly, to signify the fresh start.
2) Agree to leave the egos out of it.
3) Accept a little foolishness from your friends, because we are all foolish sometimes.
4) Forgive and forget. No one is perfect.
5) Criticize constructively. Accept criticism or refute it, but do it in a respectful way.
6) Agree to disagree if needed!
I don't know everything by a long shot, I'm just a guy who collects knives, and it is ever so much more pleasant to share that pastime with like minded people. Insult me all you want, because you are just another monkey, on a different rock. And I'll insult you back; just know it's all in the game! I think sometimes we all confuse what things are life and death issues with what is part of our education.
I'm running out of words and missus monkey is calling me for dinner; the ball's in your court!!

I am sorry I just have to butt, in on one point, the old "agree to disagree" That is the weakest of all arguments In the world!! if you don't have a good argument, agreeing to disagree is a sure sign of weakness. so if you disagree that's ok, it shows fortitude, and strength. so I think we should disagree, it makes our stand strong!
regards

Let me clarify "agreeing to disagree" for you, mashduck, since I brought it up! It means we both see something differently! We will possibly never agree, but that doesn't mean we can no longer speak, or trade knives!! You hold your opinion, I hold mine. No weakness there! But I respect your right to think differently, and you respect mine.

I wish LT would come back I miss phil too, both great knowledgeable guys on the subject of schrade, and many other knives. I agree with WN on the fresh start thing. There is a large crater in this forum without LT here, he may possibly be one of the most knowledgeable people on the subject of schrade we will ever know, and life it too short to hold grudges. Words can't explain how much I miss his posts, he was always willing to help, and give whatever information he knew. I hope you are reading this LT!
Take Care

waynorth, A weak point is a weak point, we can still respect each other, But I will Never, agree to disagree, and for that I am not sorry.
regards

I started not to post, but I like the forum the way it is. I like the name. I like the guys here. Every one knows any one can post if they want to....or not. Changing names won't change things. I have written LT, and several other guys have written LT and he does not want to change his mind, so let that one lay...until HE decides it's time. In the mean time we have plenty of guys who know a hell of a lot about Schrade and things Schrade including researched history et al. I'm through with this thread...on to more productive things.

You can review the old threads and posts, but for Heaven's sake don't drag it up fresh and re hash it again!!!

is as good as it gets. people here are willing to share their knowledge and put forth helpful insights into the whole "confusion" of collecting schrades and other knives. i for one appreciate any comments or suggestions that are posted here, i appreciate the insightful and sometimes hillarious posts that find their way here. i find myself looking forward to logging on every day i am at work, it offers a friendly atmosphere, laid back conversation, and a fellowship that i find lacking in other forums. i do not know and do not care what has caused some "riffs" in this forum, but if a man feels its best to back off, lets respect his wishes and give him his space. i have had the pleasure of dealing with LT, and i find him to be a educated, polite man who knows his knives. i have the greatest respect for everyone on here, and i like to consider each and everyone of you my friends. lets keep the forum as great today as it was when i first signed on. i personally find it to be a breath of fresh air, especially when my work day has become hectic, or i am in need of some info on a particular knife. i think every person who posts here makes a contribution, no matter how small or large, and i feel good sitting online and reading what you guys have written, and i do appreciate it all. thanks to everyone for thier informative posts, all the laughs and the great pleasure of allowing folks to learn from what others have posted. thanks guys, i love this forum!

Yikes, too much testosterone in the room.

Check it out...I "agree" with Charlie on this. And if I didn't, I would still "agree to disagree" with him. I guess that makes me "weak". NOT "agreeing to disagree" is what got us to this point in the first place.

You will never "agree to disagree" with someone. Outstanding, what do you win??? There's a saying about arguing on the internet and the special olympics. It applies here...

Guess what? When you argue with someone, and you both walk away unconvinced, you are "agreeing to disagree" with that person. Otherwise, you would just kill the guy, like some radical Muslim and think "my way is the only way".

We haven't had an appointed moderator at this forum for some years now. We have not necessarily needed one, cause although we have "intense discussions", we (dare I say) "agree to disagree", and then have a drink together.

We are not a bunch of chest-pounding neanderthals (although my wife might think so), and do not appreciate any "Troll-like" behaviour from anyone.

I'll be damned if I will sit here and let this forum turn into so many of the other forums that are out there.

Glenn

I made my point, I am not "chest pounding" I am making my opinion on the Old agree to disagree statement, It is one of many pet peeves. I guess you guys cannot take it?? am I not able to state my opinion here?? whats the problem. I did not insult any one I did not take any rights away. I collect shrade Knives, I found this sight and my first reaction was very positive. Coger came on and helped me with a few things, I thought I was the lone ranger collecting these knives. Now all of a sudden I am some chest pounding Muslum?, (I am not a Muslum for sure). anyhow I am a proud American, with opinions, and yes I stand strong on a point thats the way I was raised. all that said I will listen to a few more posts on this and sign off this forum is not for me.
Regards
Mike

I am new to this forum, this is actually my first post. I am not sure what is going on with Lt632ret but after reading a few threads one thing is for sure-
If an outsider comes into this forum and disagrees with someone who is a regular, they better watch out because the herd is a coming and they won't stop until the outsider is back outside.
I hear so many people talking about how great this place is and how they "police" their selves. Well keep running everybody off and there won't be anybody left.
Save your bashing on me because I'm with Mashduck and once I log off I am gone- besides after this post that is what most everybody here wants and they will be so proud of their selves that they ran another person with a differering opinion out of here.
