Bring Back the Backspacers!

I don't really have a preference at all I guess I do like carved backspaces on fancy blades, but standoffs are just fine with me. I like both equally.

I don't mind the large titanium standoffs.

I like backspacers as well as stand offs.

But I'd never be dumb enough to use my backspaced knife as a hammer. I'd use a hammer.

The stuff I am dumbly hammering with the butt of my knife is the sort of stuff you wouldn't want to hit with a hammer. I am not driving nails with the butt of my knife. For things like a cloge of garlic or black pepper corns a hammer would often be absolute overkill. I have absolutely zero fear of the stuff I hammer with the butt of my knife damaging said butt of knife. Even professional chefs hammer garlic with the butt of their knives. (My way is safer because my folding knife is closed so there is virtually no risk of me being cut.

I don't mind stand-offs but a back-spacer, especially if well dine, is a nice touch ... hence the market for third party back-spacers.

I like both, but it really depends on the knife, as to which one woul be best on it.
