Edit: Ok, after looking at nearly 1,000 photos that was sent to me, I did find this one of some guys fishing off the beach. I don't know where this was taken, other than it is somewhere on the island of Oahu.. ;)

My ex-wife had started taking flying lessons about the time our divorce started. She got her license shortly before our divorce was final, later that same year. Yesterday afternoon, she narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft she was piloting when she was forced to make an emergency landing in Southern Tennessee because of bad weather. Some could call it a crash; an accident at the least. Our kids were with me at the Beach House.
National Transportation Safety Board officials have issued a preliminary determination citing pilot error contributed to the accident. Judy was flying a single engine aircraft (a basic model, at best) in IFR (instrument flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual flight rating) rating.
The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board. No one on the ground was injured.
Photographs below were taken at the scene show the extent of damage to her aircraft.
She was very lucky.

I'll post some reasons why I came back to California after I saw the rest of the country.

This is a 3.5 hour drive from my house.

Even if I did, you couldn't see anything what with that heavy mist foggin' up the camera lens...

We did go into another one over on the Rogue River. It only went back about 50 yards or so. I had no problems going into that one as the sun shone all the way to the very back. Of course, the sea of daddy long legs covering the walls was creepy.. :barf:

Off the coast of Key West in the Southern Cross August 01, 7 hours from our home, (just weeks before the world would change forever...)
