I know, I know, a "Recommendation Me a Knife" thread pops up every other day. But I'm not exactly looking for an every-other-day recommendation. I want to know what's next on YOUR list, what you're still excited about (at $150 or less).

I was excited about each of the first 35 or so knives I bought, whether cheap, expensive, folding, fixed, traditional, or exotic. But now that excitement is ever so elusive.

I have a $150 of my wife's money to drop on a knife. The leading candidate is the Spyderco Caly 3 Carbon Fiber ZDP-189 because... well, honestly, because Sal said he's currently carrying ZDP, ZDP and ZDP.

Alternatives I've thought about, in order of preference, include:

Becker BK-7 or ESEE 6 - to fill the medium-large outdoor knife gap in my collection.
Becker BK-2 - in case I need to breach a tank.
ZT 0300 - scary big EDC to solidify my position as the slightly creepy guy in the office.
Bradley Kimura - because my hands just don't have enough scars (I can't carry one in California).
Kershaw Cryo - refund $120 to my wife (whenever it comes out).
BM Shoki - for attending weddings.
Alox SAK - to relinquish my position as the slightly creepy guy in the office.
JK Potawatomi Necker - as my first custom.

But I'm not excited enough to commit to any of those.

So what's next on YOUR list?

You could almost get the Cryo, Kimura AND BK-2 for $150. Probably could if you shop around. I don't really have anything on my list atm but I just got a Blind Horse Knives Bushcrafter and I absolutely love the thing. Also just picked up a BM Adamas that is a great folder.

there really isn't anything I'm seriously lusting for as of late, being a college student, my funds are low but I've reached a temporary contentment with my collection, though I could always use an upgrade in sharpening equip.

so DMT XX Course and a DMT credit card sharpener in 600 grit.

benchmade adamas :)

picked one up a few weeks ago and since then nothing else has seen the lint inside my pockets.

ultra smooth deployment and did i mention its d2?

ZT 350
BUCK 110
CRKT M16 (just because I don't have any CRKT)

Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I own one, have one on preorder, and am still thinking about picking up another. I just blows me away every time. I have a BM 730 Ares in M390 in my pocket right now, and while it certainly looks classier than the PM2... I'm kind of missing my little blue friend (the PM2 I have is the M390/Blue G-10 version).

Maybe you don't need a knife. Maybe you need something else:

- Leatherman Rebar multitool, with sheath: $50
- Quark 2xAA light with sheath: $60
- Victorinox Explorer Plus SAK: $35
- Ruger LCP pocket pistol (.380 caliber): $299

Remember, we buy these toys to distract ourselves from inner turmoil. As with ever-increasing hits of heroin, we can hit an psychological and physiological wall with our knife addiction. So we switch drugs - or in this case toys - and start jonesing for a multitool, light or gun.

Nailed it! Get the LCP! It'll open the door to larger caliber mouseguns & a new toy obsession!

the woman snagged my LCP and claimed it for herself.:p great little gun and an excellent suggestion

Then you should take her $150 & put it toward another mousegun. One that Powernoodle & I definitely agree on, The Kahr PM9!!!

already own a 9mm PPS, so i dont really need a Kahr ;)

and i did buy another mousegun, a Sig 238. i mean, what was i supposed to do with all that .380 ammo id bought? made sense to me:D

Sad, there's nothing on my list that's 150 or less, except for more steel for making. I did just pick up a dust collector though.

If I were to have to choose, it would be a Becker of some sort. 17 or 5, most likely.

Well then I got nuthin'! :foot:

Not under $150... but the next knife on my list?
ZT 0600. =]

Also wanting a Para2 again.
Or a Manix 2.

Yeah, it feels like I'm just chasing the dragon.

So far, the impression I'm getting is:

1 - get a BIG knife - BK-9, BM Adamas, ZT
2 - get a small gun

I know exactly how you feel! My most recent compulsion was a bump in the night belt. Basically a duty belt with all the accoutrements needed for anything that might go "bump in the night". I'm waiting on the last mag carrier to complete it & then I'll be on some other kick.

Most of the knives I have right now are over $300, but for some weird reason I've always wanted a Spyderco Delica 4. Just ordered one yesterday in orange (always wanted an orange knife too) so I'm pretty excited about that.
