Bringing a knife with me in my checked baggage / TSA

It seems that TSA catches all the blame for stolen items. I can assure you that theft by baggage handlers occurred long before TSA was created and continues today. Arrests are made with some frequency depending on the airport. Police use undercover agents. Cameras placed to over watch the baggage operations are quickly broken. So as many previous posts have suggested, it is worthwhile figuring out how to secure your valuables in checked baggage.

I'm a baggage handler for a major airline. I've been doing it for 16 years now. We have a union and the top tier of pay and benefits are very reasonable. Believe me, those baggage handlers you are referring to are either contract, part time, or just flat out non-union or crap pay employees.
IMHO, your either a thief or your not..that goes with any job or career.
Our guys would be stupid to throw their lives away by stealing property like that. Not saying it doesn't happen but on our end, it is rare indeed.

Hi, from your first post, you say that bringing in knives is not allowed, so customs job would be to confiscate that contraband. There's not much you can do if your smuggling in a knife, it's going to be a gamble
