hello everyone,

I got this british navy knife a while ago at a militaria fair. One thing that i noticed after a while was that the marlin spike has no spring tension.
I find this weird because my other british army knives do have spring tension at the marlin spike. Is this normal for this kind of knife, or do i have a faulty one?

You might want to post this in the traditional section of this forum.

There may be someone there that could help you remedy this.

I have a few older marlin spike knives and they all have a good snap to them, have you tried a little oil on the spring?

Welcome to BladeForums aweealex. Have an excellent time here.

If I could be so bold as to suggest www.britishblades.com. They have a terrific number of threads on British military folders so you might just find your knife and fellow owners of your knife there. If I had to guess I'd say your back spring was faulty/broken. But just a guess. I've had a pile of fid knives and none were floppy.
