Hey everyone,

A BRKT Aurora is in the mail (I hope) from KnivesShipFree.com. I'm going to be giving this one a good test (my previous two knife reviews can be seen here: Khukuri Recon1).

The question is, what do you want to see the Aurora do? I have a few ideas in the back of my mind but it's all pretty cliche. Any cool projects that would be good for testing the knife out?

Big Mike,

Bow Drill is already on the menu. Incorporates cutting a fireboard, splitting it, whittling a spindle, and drilling the board and spindle.

tonym,

Let's hope it doesn't get to that point :)

On second thought, if done in lighthearted (i.e. not mall ninja) way, that would actually be sort of neat :)

tonym stole my thunder!

Here's another true 'bushcraft' application. Pound the knife into a wooden plank or stump and use the fixed blade to create leather/buckskin lashing. If you have access to birchbark, do the same thing to make birchbark strips for basketweaving.

(I beat-up my Aurora for about a year and it always came through.)

Original idea! I wonder what else a 'stationary' knife would be good for. If I find a fallen birch (not going to kill a tree just for a review), I'll definitely include that. Keep them coming!
