Excellent review!
This pair of knives has become a great favorite of mine as well. Extremely useful, nice bit of American woodsy history, and Bark River did a great job on them.
Kephart's original "companion" had fish-scaling teeth ground into the spine. While a part of me wished Mike had put those on the Companion for historical accuracy, I think he made the right choice. The scaling teeth would make the knife less useful for a 1003 daily tasks (couldn't use a thumb on the spine), and I seldom need to scale a fish in the woods - trout just don't need scaling!
I'm another that hopes Mike decides to do another run of both these knives. They are just too good not to!
