I have a couple valient goloks from $75-$125 as well as a crocodile golok for $50 and some others. I couldn't see a bark river golok being worth $200, and yet I've seen nothing but great reviews for the new barkie so I figured what the hell. No one seemed to regret the purchase even though they are very expensive, and all reviews were very positive. Anyway, I just ordered one and should get it on Friday. I want to hear from BRKT golok owners. I'm not interested in opinions on other goloks because I have nine goloks already that range most of the popular brands as well as a few parangs from borneo. I know all I need to about them. I want to hear your oppinions on the BRKT golok as well as any photos you guys have. It will give me something to drool over till mine comes.
Thanks.

Its a nice light weight chopper that is really a great tool...it is what it is really.

Lifetime warranty and endless spa treatments for the price of shipping are worth the front end difference in price for me.

Plus if you have to ask you need to put some Bark River to use.

It will speak louder than I can.

I have 11 barkies, from the smallest micro canadian to the medium aurora to the big sky camp knife and many in between. I don't go easy on any of them. They are all tanks, no question. Thats the reason I decided to go ahead and buy the golok.

I don’t have a BK&T production Golok, but I did get a chance to test one of the first run of Golok’s (slightly different from the current production run), and I happen to be the proud owner of the original BRK&T prototype Golok (a totally different animal).

That said, I feel that the Bark River Golok might be the ultimate camp tool.

It will clear your site, cut the wood for your shelter, harvest and split your firewood, even slice your dinner of need be; all in a package smaller then most machetes.

The BRK&T Golok is definitely worth the price of admission, the fact that the Bark River spa will make it like new anytime you like for just the price of S&H is icing on the cake.

ok, I'm feelin a little better about the $200. I sent my aurora and one of my micros to mike for work and I miss them. I just bought a fox river, a micro tusk, a custom semi skinner, and drop loops for all of them. I tried to pass the time missing my aurora with a few new barkie friends but the aurora is my favorite. I was between the golok and the full tang kehpart. I can only get one this month and I couldn't decide which one to get first. I need to make friends with my new fox river so the golok was the best way to go.

I don't have any other goloks to compare my BRKT Golok to so I can't tell you how it will stack up to your others. I can say mine is a tremendous tool. Every outdoorsman should have one. It is amazing on brush and saplings. It will chop larger wood just as well as a hatchet. With a baton it will split any wood that a hatchet will and probably then some. Mine is a eleven inch straight razor!

I think I have nine Bark Rivers and if only one of them was worth what I paid for it it would be my PSK because I won that one......but if only one more was worth what I paid for it it would be the Golok! I think they are all worth what I paid.

You're going to hate me. I came into some spendable $$ a while back and couldn't decide between the BRKT Golok or Machete- waayy expensive for a machete, but at least I already knew I liked machetes- anyway, got them both and couldn't be happier! Different knives, different uses, but both feel excellent in the hand, work wonderfully, and (I'm guessing) will hold up to more than I'll ever do to them.

What I'd like to know after you get yours, is if there's any reason for me to get something from Valiant? Comparison please!

You're going to hate me.

Ah, but I already have the KSF machete. I wasn't sure about the $$$ when I bought it but WOW, it really pushes the envelope on what a machete can do. Cuts and chops better than any machete I've ever used. Well worth the $$$.

I agree with Big Mike and the others: The BRKT Golok is probably the ultimate camp tool.

My "woods" go from the beach, through chaparral and oaks, up into the Sierras with their pine and fir forests. The Goloks is useful and effective in each area. Plus it's light enough to tuck into a daypack.

Don't go in the woods without one!

I bought a BRKT Golok about 8 months ago after reading some positive reviews. The Golok absolutely slices everything as if it is not there. I cut a 6 inch green tree down during a military exercise to build a shelter. It took 5 swings and the tree was down. Amazing performance.

Carrying the big blade is difficult. I have the sheath strapped to the side of my 3 day assault pack.

My Golok has an orange handle and we (the Golok and me!) are on the way to the African bush.

I think any doubts about purchasing a BRKT golok will be dispelled as soon as you actually use it. It is the finest little chopping tool I have ever used.

I'm glad to get so much positive feedback, thanks guys. We got hit with a nasty ice storm here so thats why my BRKT reviews have not been continued yet. The first thing I'm gonna do when my golok comes is start limbing trees for small wood for the fireplace then use it to baton and split larger wood. I post pics and a review when I can. It should get here friday, fingers crossed.

It came tonight!!! There's snow and a good layer of ice on the ground and it didn't come until dusk. Damn, I need to play with this thing. I put on a headlamp and limbed a few thick boughs I had cut earlier. This thing destroys my valient in every way. My wife made me come in after a few minutes so I didn't slip on the ice wearing a headlamp and open my leg with my new toy. Pretty sure she made the right call. I'll review it tomorrow and post the pics on sat. Love it, worth every penny.

Good to hear!

A blade that light long and sharp commands your respect and attention doesn't it?
