There is a new Gunny model, Sidekick.

Which one do you think is best fit for EDC? Plain Gunny, Vortex, Sidekick?

What steel?

I like ESEE-3 and -4, but #4 was a little on the thicker side and 1095 seems too regular for my tastes, especially after supersteels. And it occurred to me that Gunny is a nice alternative--better handle, convex grind and etc. Of course, there is a difference in price.

Just pondering.

That sidekick is pricey. At that price I'd start looking for something custom.

It may cost a bit more, but it would be exactly what you want with likely a better attention to detail.

I like that CPM M4, and in a full convex grind, and I don't hate the blade shape. I just wish they went either an inch longer in blade length, or went to like .125" stock.

Lil concerned about sharpening it. Maintaining/stropping ok, but I think I would need to upgrade my Choseras to glass Shaptons.

As far as EDC, don't forget the Bravo EDC as well. As I remember, I think the plain Gunny is slightly longer than the Bravo, so I would go with that.

Personally, I think the Gunny models you are interested in are too long (overall length) for an inconspicuous edc blade for the average person.

I find the featherweight hunter, featherweight fox river and mini aurora to be the right size for me (medium hands, larger torso).

If you're tall or have large hands though, the Gunny could be a good choice.

yea seems over priced and m4 sucks to sharpen thats why Rob made it with a crazy big sharpening choil. I think a regular 3v gunny is an excellent knife and if you can get one used its well worth it. I picked up a kydex sheath from DL trading for cheap. The esee's are decent knives and the 4 works well IWB. It is a tad heavy and the blade stock and being 1095 made me shy away from it. Didnt slice well and i wanted to not have to worry about it rusting right away so I sold it. Gunny is great for an EDC knife. The sheath will make it carry well so, dont forget to spend some money on an aftermarket sheath.

I just noticed this- why have a sharpening notch on a convex ground blade? It that designed so people can send him this knife to get an edge pro V-Grind put on it? Built in business for him with each sale?
